It's a misfire code have you changed your spark plugs? Or you could have a bad injector.

1999 LINCOLN TOWN CAR MISSING

DO YOU MEAN THE ENGINE IS "MISSING" WHILE ITS RUNNING??

IF SO, THEN TRY A GOOD (not a cheap one) SCAN TOOL, IT WILL SHOW ANY CODES THAT MAY BE PRESENT, IF NOTHING SHOWS UP ON A CODE, THEN GO TOO THE BASICS, PLUGS, COIL OR COIL-PACKS, FUEL SYSTEM DELIVERY LIKE FILTER, INJECTORS AND SO FORTH AS THESE WILL NOT USUALLY SHOW UP ON ANY CODE SCANNER TOOL.

I replaced the timing belt, cylinder head, water pump, o2s, temp sensors, and t-stat. The car didn't run when I got it and now it runs but idles real rough and clears out a little when u bring the idle up,...

Hello, What first comes to mind is a compression test. You may have a bad cam lobe or lifter. Also check your engine wires for correct cylinder routing including the injectors. Another thing that comes to mind is the EGR valve not seating.

As for the scanner, the air/mix ratio is based on the average mix from each bank. That means as long as the electric impulses are going to the injectors or plugs and grounding, the scanner will think everything is working. But if a wire is crossed or you have a mechanical failure in a cam lobe or lifter, the scanner will not "see" it until the average fuel/mix is out of range. You may have a bad camshaft sensor affecting the timing of the injectors.

This sounds like an interesting case and I would like to know what solution fixed your problem.

I have 353 and 171 codes. Car has erratic idle and is sluggish on acceleration. Have replaced plugs and wires.

Hi,

The 353 code is howing that you have a ignition coil pack fault.
The 171 code is showing that you have a fuel lean out problem in bank one.

This could be fuel pressure, injector timing, fowl fuel, blocked inlet tract system.

Check these areas out and you should fix your erractic problem.

Thanks

Jason

Had a diagnostic check done on my 2006 Saturn Vue and it pull up PO300 missing

If you continue to drive it the computer will eventually sort out exactly which cyl is misfiring then list another code showing the cyl that is missing. Otherwise have a competent repair shop with a good scan tool run the car with their scanner hooked up and they should be able to locate the cyl that is missing and what it needs.
