This is an indication of to lean a mixture on the bank one oxygen sensor. Warm the engine up and start looking for some sort of vacuum leak on the bank one cylinders. Possibly a vacuum hose or maybe an intake gasket. I have always used a non-flammable type of cleaner like brake cleaner and put a small straw on it so I can direct it at each of the intake ports and vacuum hoses in the related area and watch/listen for a misfire.

SOURCE: check engine light on code

Hi, this code indicates your engine has a vacuum leak between the inlet hose airflow sensor and the engine valves. the leak could be a crack in the big inlet hose; a loose, cracked, or disconnected vacuum hose; or possibly a leak in the intake manifold gasket. First check all of the hoses and repair as necessary to eliminate any vacuum leaks. If those all look good, get some carb cleaner, start the engine, and spray the carb cleaner on the intake manifold gaskets. Assuming you have a 4-cylinder engine, the intake manifold gasket is behind the valve cover and spark plugs. If the engine speed changes while you are spraying the carb cleaner, you will need to replace the intake manifold gaskets. Please let me know if you have more questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

Po171 code came up on my 99 jeep grand Cherokee larado an the air bag light is on an the abs light how do I fix theses problems

First step is to look up Jeep trouble code PO171
This is the link I found:
http://engine-codes.com/p0171_jeep.html

I don't know about the airbag or abs lights. My old AMC concord used to light up all sorts of odd ball combinations of lights to signal stuff not related. You could look under your seat to see if any wire harnesses have come unplugged by stowing things under the seat but if nothing is hanging down obviously I would focus on the code PO171 first. Which as you can see has a lot of possible fuel and air type problems. It points you in the general direction. It is the actual behavior and performance of the engine that is your main concern. How is it running and is there any other symptoms or power loss you can feel and when? Have you done your regular maintenance and replaced your air filter or any recommended fuel filter changes from the owner's manual? If that stuff is done often the appropriate spray cleaner from the auto parts store can get things back without any repair at all. I sprayed one sensors harness with electronic cleaner and my code went away because oil and dirt from my smoky engine was blocking the signals.

Replace the MAP Sensor again. alot of times they are botb. (Bad out of the box) I realize how much of a pain this is but, like with any computer component that has no way of testing it these things happen. Good luck.

PO171 system too lean (bank 1)

The check engine light is on ?? Yes? Check the pre catalitic converter Oxygen sensor or upstream sensor. If the car has in excess of 100,000 miles it's probably bad. If it has less than 100,000 take it back to the dealer because these things have a warranty that is federally mandated for 100,000.

1997 buick lasabra engine code >po171

The trouble code is related to a lean engine fuel trim problem. This particular code can be caused by a vacuum leak, low fuel pressure or faulty MAF or MAP. Check for vacuum leaks first, if you cant find any broken or cracked hoses, you might want to take it to a good shop and have live data read to determine if there is a component defective.

1998 FORD CONTOUR CHECK ENGINE CODES P1131 AND PO171. REPLACED 1 OF THE OXYGEN SENSORS, CHANGED PLUGS, PLUG WIRES, OIL AND FILTER, ALSO REPLACED AIR FILTER AND CLEANED PCV FILTER, RESET PC AND IT RAN GOOD...

sounds like EGR valve and sensor this controls idle speed when at a stop. the po171 is a burn lean or rich code need to know what bank 1 or 2. also check for a vacuum leak from one of the hoses.

My check engine light is on with codes PO171 and PO174

hello your codes that u are getting mean both banks are running lean. And there are only so many things that it could be.lets start with things that are near free first change the fuel filter.next check the fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge.if u dont have one any car shop should have one. and should be able to do the test for u in a couple of minutes.for 25.00 dollars or for free.it has to be at least 35 psi.if the fuel filter dosnt fix problem.and the fuel pressure is over 35psi more like 40 psi.if not your fuel pump is no good.if over 35 psi then last but not least the fuel pressure regalator is no good.
