It could be a faulty earth or a faulty wiper switch or even a damaged return switch on the motor that tell it to turn off power when in the right position. most likley the switch in the motor.

Wipers turn on by themselves & won't shut off

I had this happen to my Ford Focus once.
I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but it sounds like your alternator. If your lights are also flaring on and off, your battery could be overcharging and therefore could be your alternator or distributor acting up.
Basically, your batter is trying to get rid of overcharge by using all the power it can. Bring it into a shop ASAP or your battery could explode (like mine did) on the highway.

Escort 55 1.8d van fuse 25 keeps blowing and cant start my van.circuit says wiper and washers and it wont let me install new fuse without blowing.i have work on monday !Help!

Unplug the wiper motor and replace the fuse. If it works the wiper motor is shorted out. It may also be the wiring rubbed thrue somewhere causing a short.

Sometimes doesnt fireup after i turn the engine off after ive drove it a mile or two

I would look at the battery, cables, alternator and belt system all as possible issues. What happens when you start turning on electrical items? The headlights, wipers, heat on high and defrost? If it all stays working while its running, I'd lean towards the battery being the issue, that's not a definitive test, just a good guide as "in general". Please get back to me with more questions, answers and most importantly, results! Thanks and good luck!
