Question about Hyundai Elantra
I have a 2000 hyundai elantra gls automatic transmission. when I put my car in reverse i have to put it in nutruel and then back in reverse to go. when i am driving down the road my car wont shift until it hits 4500 rpm's and 5000 rpm's when it down shifts its hard. also i have changed the transmission, computer and input and output sensors. someone please help me fix my car problems.
Do you mean you changed the engine speed sensor for the auto box ? works off the engine rev's this is not on the same line as the rev counter it counts the rotations of the shaft spining.

Believe it or not, but the throttle position sensor as alot to do with the shifting. Also the range position sensor known as the neutral safety switch.

Did you check the transmission fluid level? If necessary, add fluid. However you probably have a more serious problem. Take the car to a qualified transmission mechanic.

The input and output speed sensors are located on top of the transmission, the output speed sensor is on the rear just under the brake master cylinder, the input speed sensor in in the center under the shift cable.
