SOURCE: where is the body control module located on a 1997 town & country

It is located on the back side of the underdash fuse box (junction block). You remove the lower steering column cover and knee blocker reinforcement. Then remove two plugs from the bottom of the BCM.
Remove the bolts holding the junction block to dash panel mounting bracket. Remove the junction block from the bracket. Remove screws holding the BCM to the junction block. Slide the BCM downward to disengage guide studs on jb from channels on BCM mounting bracket

Code P 0403 on 2002 Chrysler Town and Country mean?

    OBD Code P0403refers to
The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system is controlled by a vacuum solenoid. The solenoid is supplied ignition voltage. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) controls the vacuum solenoid by grounding the control circuit(ground) or driver. The primary function of the driver is to supply ground for the object that is being controlled. Each driver has a fault circuit that the PCM monitors. When the PCM turns a component on, the control circuit voltage is low, or close to zero. When the component is turned off, the voltage on the control circuit is high, or near battery voltage. The PCM watches for these conditions, and if it doesn\'t see the proper voltage at the proper time, this code is set.

Possible causes of OBD code P0403
The causes for a P0403 EGR code could be any of the following: Bad EGR solenoid Excessive resistance in control circuit (PCM controlled ground) due to an open, chafing or damage to the harness Poor connection at the EGR solenoid harness (worn or loose pins) Water intrusion at the EGR solenoid harness Blockage in EGR control solenoid holding solenoid open or closed causing excessive resistance Loss of supply voltage to EGR solenoid Bad PCM

    Code p0443 town & country

code is for fume purge control
To cause a P0443, there has to be a problem with the purge control CIRCUIT, not necessarily the valve. Usually they are a unit housing the valve and the solenoid as an assembly. Or it could be comprised of a separate solenoid with vacuum lines to a purge valve. That said, it could be any of the following:
    • Bad purge solenoid (internal short or open)
    • Wiring harness chafing or rubbing another component causing short or open on control circuit
    • Connector worn, broken or shorted due to water intrusion
    • Driver circuit inside powertrain control module (PCM) is bad

I had to chang the engine computer on my 02 town and country. Do I have to take it to chrysler to get it reprogramed for my van?

the town and country has a PCM ( power control module, located in front to the battery ) and a FCM ( front control module located on the front of the relay center next to the battery ) if either module is replaced they need to be programed with a DRBIII, so you will need to see your dealer.

    Code p1698 on 97 chrysler t&c

This error indicates either the TCM (transmission control module) or the PCM (main computer). From what I've discovered, it's more likely the PCM is bad than the TCM. Hope this points you in the right direction and best of luck.
