Re: how to unlock engine
Try a mechanic.
he will tell you , exaclty how bad it is.
we cant look here, we are 100% blind. nor can we touch it or test it.
if it wont starter crank over.
then hand crank it, it you cant hand crank it, its toast.
If the engine is sezied.they pull it and take it apart or to a machine shop for estimates.
damages on mechines, no limits, any damage is possible.
so ONLY INSPECTIONS work.
kinda like when your Doctor does and MRI. hes looking for damages.
sadly we dont have one.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

You need to remove the radio back up fuse for at least 2 minutes (yeah, I
know they say 30 seconds, but it hasn't always worked for me), then
reinstall the fuse. It should show 1000 or something similar on the
digital display. You need to have the 4 digit code to unlock the radio
and depress a couple of buttons after entering the code.
Remember that you push the radio pre-set station buttons to enter the
code; button 1 for the first digit, button 2 for the second digit and so
on. You will then need to push another button on your radio to enter
the code. The button that you need to push will depend on which type
radio you have.
If you don't have the radio code, look on the trunk floor to see if the
radio serial number or code for the radio is there. If the PDI was done
correctly and the radio wasn't replaced, then there should be a sticker
on the trunk floor area with the serial number of the radio and/or the
code. If it isn't there, then the radio needs to be removed from the
vehicle to see the code that is stamped into the metal body of the
radio. This plus the VIN number are input into the VW information
system (done at the dealership only) to obtain the radio code.
The instructions for inputing the code should be in the owners manual or
radio suppliment as supplied by VW, when the vehicle was sold new. If
you have the code but aren't sure about how to input the code, see the
local dealership, they can do it on the driveway in a manner of a few
If the radio requires to be pulled to obtain the code, expect to pay
between .5 to 1.0 of labour at the dealership's posted labour rate to
obtain the code and input it into the radio to make it function. They used to do it for free until they ended
up doing something 10 or more of these a day, because everyone else was
charging up to $120! to unlock and programme the radio!
following are the general instructions on the start of diagnosing any
electronically controlled engine or transmission problem.
engine and the automatic transmission (transmission control is
only for automatics, engine is still computer controlled no matter
the transmission type) in this vehicle are computer controlled and in
most cases when a fault occurs a fault code is stored in the memory
of the computer control module. There are exception to this, such as
the Mass Airflow Meter and fuel pressure problems. What must be done
is to have all the basic testing done such as a scan of the system
for fault codes as well as a check with a live data scanner tool for
engine functions that are not within range of normal, a trained
technician is required to know what is correct and what isn't, then
based on careful diagnostics done from a factory repair manual the
correct part is replaced or the wiring repaired or the computer
replaced (known as the PCM or ECM,ECU), which is very rarely the
problem. Other basic checks must be done as well such as mechanical
problems with the engine as well as engine state of tune and mileage
on the engine. The transmission can have mechanical issues as well
such as no gear engagement at all or a failed pump or other pressure
related problems. Also engine mechanical problems can and do cause
many drive-ability related problem such as rough idle and other
Take the truck to a place like Autozone to have them read the code the engine light is producing. Usually done for free. At this point, we can help narrow it down with the codes. As for the gauges going haywire, TB's have a problem with te stepper motors on the back of the instrument cluster, these little inexpensive motors, may need to be replaced. OR you could have a problem with your ignition switch.
You lost your program of the key module follow these instructions.
To Program a Remote for a VW
Put your good key in the ignition and turn to "ON", do not start the engine. Make sure all the remotes you want to use are present because they have to be programmed at the same time. - Close the door and insert key #2 into the driver's side lock. Lock the door. -Within 5 seconds of locking the door, press unlock 2 times on the new remote, key #2. -(if this is remote #3, press unlock 3 times. if this is remote #4, press unlock 4 times). -If there's a chirp or beep do not press it again. This means that the car has recognized the new keyless entry remote. - Repeat with other remote or unlock the car and turn off - done.
some time the buttons on the remote get worn out and it will light up but it wont unlock or lock. you can just buy a new case and switch the piece inside. If you have another remote try to see if that one works if it does then the remote case is your problem
You have a sticky motor somewhere, they tend to unlock but only half way so the motor tries to lock and unlock again, all I can suggest is get some WD40 and spray all your locks including the bootlock and all the mechanisms dont be shy with the WD40 after you have done all the locks do the keyholes etc aswell and then lock and unlock the car with the key on all locks and then lock and unlock repeatedly with the remote locking button.
Hope this helps Regards Dan. If you need more info about the internal door motors get back to me.
the window riser motor is fried or u can try replacing the carbon brush but its too much work... just buy a new riser motor and replace it, u need a knife or similar tool to remove the door panel.. dont damage the plastic lock... ur gonna need it when your done replacing the riser. youre going to need socket wrench to remove the riser bracket... usually 10mm. socket'll do removing is easy... just try to remember the sequence of your removal... then when your done replacing the motor, install the components you removed in reverse.... Qoute "first in last out" reverse engineering motto....
When you use your remote or insert your key in the Drivers Front door all the door locks should work at the same time by the door lock motors electrically. If you have to manually unlock the door because it will not lock or unlock by the lock motor, you need a door lock motor. The drivers and passengers front door can unlocked with the key manually. The rear doors you have to pull up the latch. If no doors unlock electrically with the remote or drivers door lock, intermittantly or all the time, you will need a Central Locking Electronic Control Module. You will hear the "beep" but no door locks will fire at all. If you have odd door locks not working intermittantly you need a new door lock motor for each door lock that malfunctions. You can hear of the door locks are working electrically. Yes, they are common problem. If you can hear the door lock working but the door still doesn't unlock you need to take the door panel off and lubricate the door latch assembly and work the lock, loosening it up. This is common as well.
You can put the 302 in it also. But, if you are going to change the engine from the original you will need to match the electronics to the new engine. In other words you will need to get the correct module for the engine to match the firing order and fuel air parameters. It can be done, but you need to know precisely what you are doing. I hop this hasn't discouraged you. Then there is going to be the task of obtaining the correct linkages and cables to the throttle. Good luck. If you need more help jump back onto this site and ask. We are glad to help out.
