HI,

  1. Relieve the pressure in the fuel line before disconnecting it. To do so, you have to disable the electric fuel pump before you start the engine. To disable the fuel pump, do the following:
    1. With the engine off, remove the fuel pump fuse from the fuse box. (Your owner's manual should show you where it is.)
    2. Make sure that the parking brake is on and that the vehicle is in Park or Neutral, and then start the engine. It won't run very long after you start it up, but the pressure in the fuel lines will be reduced.
    3. Turn off the engine. With the fuel pump disabled, you're ready to disconnect the fuel lines from the filter.
  2. Look at the old filter and the new one before disconnecting anything. You should see an arrow stamped on both filters that shows in which direction the fuel flows through it. If the new one doesn't have an arrow on it, look to see in what direction the old filter is installed so that you can tell which end of the new filter goes where.
  3. Remove whatever is holding the old filter in place and remove it.
  4. Put the new filter on in the same position as the old filter.
  5. Replace whatever holds the filter in place, and make sure it's secure.
  6. Replace the fuse for the fuel pump in the fuse box.
Make sure that the parking brake is on and that the vehicle is in Park or Neutral, and then start the engine and check for leaks around the filter.

Are you sure it was the fuel filter the actual problem? may be the fuel pump went out? check to see if you have fuel in the tank some mechanics put some fuel in the fuel filter just like they do with the oild filter.

93 chrysler t&c awd changed fuel pump and filter, van ran fine again for about 2 months now won't start and don't hear the fuel pump. changed the oil pressure sending unit and still won

fuel pick-up in tank is blocked it has a sock over the end as a gross filter to keep out any big junk from getting sucked into the pump and causing damage to it. the sock can get so plugged up that no fuel will flow, causing the pump to run for a short time then with no fuel flow to cool it it trips the safety and shuts off

1997 mazda 626 won't start.

Are the plugs wet with fuel?
Check for spark. No spark? it may be the ignition module.

Plugs dry and spark present? No fuel?Spray a little starting fluid and see if it will run on that.
Then check pump fuses and for fuel pump noise.

Car won't start; mechanic said it was fuel pump; fixed problem but car still won't start...any suggestions of what could be?

When you changed your fuel pump did you also change the fuel filter? If not, that would be the next logical step. While you have it disconnected you can also check to make sure the fuel pump is pumping the fuel.

My ford expedition won't start i change the fuel

If it a diesel then you must be aware that when changing a filter and pump they must be full of fuel, otherwise it won't **** the fuel into the engine.
