The "wait to start" light is your glow plugs. You must have a loose connection to them or something not connecting. They come on almost everytime you start them, hot or cold.

SOURCE: 2001 dodge cummins no power to

2001 does not have a crank sensor.... just a camshaft sensor in front of motor. no crank sensor st starter. I have a 2001 dodge cummins 3500 automatic .... when i bought it i had it checked out at dealership it had 20 psi on lift pump but they said lift pump was bad. truck loses throttle response at low rpm and speed after 55 runs fine. now its having trouble starting acts like its flooding and diesel fuel is getting in the oil. i changed lift pump still had 20 to 22 psi so that was wasted money. have also spent 4 hours hunting the engine over with starter and exhaust off trying to install a crank sensor the dealer sold me .... i tell ya its BAD when the guys at ADVANCE AUTO know more than the dealer.. they said it dont have a crank sensor but it does have a cam sensor. right above the injection pump in a hard to get to hole!!! let me know if yall got any ideas... think my code is a 0160 something about injection timing is wrong... dont remember right now and the paper is in the shop.... thanks for any help maybe i can find this fourm again i am new to this.

I have a 1999 Chevy Venture van I ran out of gas and now it won't start I don't hear the fuel pump running so I was wondering is there a emergency shutoff switch to the pump

There is no shut-off switch. Check the fuel pump fuse in the under hood fuse block. Also check for voltage on the fuse circuit, hot all the time. At the fuel pump connector, gray wire is voltage, solid black wire is ground. Have a helper crank it while you check for good voltage and ground at the connector.

How do I locate the ground wire on a 03 ford f-150? the fuel pump has good presion and the sparks plugs are brand new but the engine wont start at all someone tell me its an electrical

If the pump has good pressure, I would make sure it had spark to the plugs. If you have individual coils for the plugs , I would go directly to the crank sensor. Having the codes read will point you in the right direction. But if you think it is a ground for the pump. find the wires for the pump, by the fuel tank, the black wire is the ground for the pump. Splice it and run it to the frame.

'92 chevy lumina van running rough after fuel pump replacement

mass airflow sensors don't have a vacuum line, you sure you don't mean the EGR valve? if it was the regulator i doubt it would run good or make much of a difference unplugging the vacuum line, take a reading of the fuel pressure, if it starts to drop while the van is running you have a bad regulator.

No check engine light fuel pump dont work

That is a very involved answer. First I would disconnect the fuel pump and apply 12v directly to the wires to the fuel pump to rule out whether or not it is toasted. If it runs when you supply power to it, you'll need to isolate which wires are grounding to blow the fuse. Think about recent work done on the van as this may give you a clue where to start. Good Luck!

Dodge 1500 1995 pickup 7.5 volts to fuel pumpwill not start applied 12 volts pump runs book sayes pcm de-energize booth relayes and will not send proper voltage to fuel pump

There is a red and white wire feeding the fuel pump relay from a 30 amp fuse. Both the shutdown relay and the fuel pump relay are grounded by the PCM, so if the fuel pump relay is grounded it should be "on" and providing a direct link from the pump to that fuse.
You should have battery voltage on that 30 amp wire before the relay and then on the dark green and black wire going to the pump.
If you don't have battery voltage coming from the 30 amp fuse, the problem could be before the fuse.
That 30 amp fuse is hot all the time, so it is powered by a fuseable link coming off the battery.

I ran out of gas and now my van doesnt start ,i out 20 litres of gas in it ,,could you tell me why or what the problem is thanks kev

If you ran completely out of gas while the engine was running, it could have damaged the fuel pump. Fuel pumps don't like to run dry. An easy way to check the fuel pump is to lay down on the ground with your ear as close to the gas tank as you can get. While you're on the ground, have someone else turn the key to the 'On' position but do not try to start the engine. When the key is switched on, you should hear a faint hum, or buzz coming from the gas tank. If you hear it, then your fuel pump is working. If you don't hear it, then it has gone bad.

Good Luck!

98 z24 parked the car went out next day. Engine turns over but won't start. Ran the fuel pump direct and it runs. Disconicted the battery for 20 minute and stell nothing all fuses good and relays .

if the car runs when you feed the fuel pump directly then you have a fuel pump relay problem,no good or bad connection.if the fuses are good then its possible the relay may not be sending a signal(voltage) out to the pump to run or it is but there`s a wiring problem from the relay to the don`t say how or were you feed the pump.if you feed the pump using the spade connector for the pump feed in the wiring harness under the hood then the problem could be were that wire splices off back to the relay.i don`t think its the pcm not getting the signal while cranking or the check engine light would be on,as the pcm uses this to turn on the fuel relay to turn on the pump.

I own a 1978 motor home with a qne ton van frame\r...

Over an extended period of time gas will evaporate in a carburator. It's possible that presure is leaking off in your fuel pump as well. A weak pump will have trouble maintaining pressure over a period of time and will have trouble building pressure back up. Starting the engine on a regular basis and letting it run for a few minutes will cure the problem and help keep the engine seals from drying out and leaking. Converting to an electric fuel pump will also make it easier to start after sitting for a period of time.
Any generic LOW PRESSURE electric pump will work. It only needs to put out between 7 and 9 or 10 pounds pressure. Unhook the fuel lines from your mechanical pump and hook to the electric. The li ne from the tank goes on the inlet end. The electric pump usually ground through the case so it needs contact with bare metal or a wire running from the case to bare metal. Run the power wire to a powered wire in the engine compartment that powers on and off with the key or to an accessory fuse in the fuse box. It should run through a 20A fuse.
Hope this helps.

1989 ford f150 cranks over but wont start, have replaced all the obvious stuff.

does fuel pump run when you turn key to the run gas cap stick in a funel put ear to funnel.. have some one turn key to run position......does check engine light come on when key in run position.......they have two very common problems....first the fuel pump relays and next very common problem is the ground for the ecm...main computer.....look at the battery then look at ground or negative wire you wiil see a smaller wire comming off the terminal. these will got to a bullet looking connector...cut out this connector and hook wires directly. even if not your problem it will be one day...write back if more needed
