SOURCE: How do you check if altenator is charging battery,

Most vehicles if you get the car running and unhook the positive battery cable it will stay running that is because it is running off the alternator. if it dies like your talking about I would most definitely say your alternator needs to be replaced. Most likely when you jumped your father in laws pick up there was a bad ground somewhere and your alternator got a surge of electricity and it fried it. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: my 99 f 150 wont start! i'm not getting any power

Hi, look in the fusebox and see if there is a relay in position 3 as shown in the diagram below. I'm guessing that is the starter interrupt relay associated with the anti-theft system. Pull the relay out and borrow the relay 4 temporarily to replace relay 3. If this allows the truck to start, get a new relay for #4, which is the relay for your window one-touch-down. Please get back to me if this doesn't solve your problem.

1995 c180 key will turn the ignition all lights come on but car wont start

It's very likely that you need a new battery. The battery might have enough charge to power the lights but it takes a lot more power to start the car. Try jump starting the car, if that works then it's your battery- you need a new one.

95 ford explorer cranks but wont start had this change the relay, fuelpump, sarter, altnator ,battery, wait then it starts

What could cause a 95 Ford Explorer to turn over but not start? It could be a lot of things causing it not to start. If it is turning over it could be the alternator or carburetor causing it not to start. An alternator is an electromechanical device that converts mechanical energy to electrical energy in the form of alternating current. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

03 escalade won't start or turn over

Do you have power?
battery might be drained cause your alternator is not charging anymore, 2003, seems about time for a new alternator, those vehicles consume lots of power cause pretty much everything is electric, lots of motors and servos, so they depend a lot on a good power source from the battery. If alternator doesnt charge it, no power...

have power system checked.

Good luck.

Car wont crank. drags when you turn it over then clicks. It trys to start but wont. what could it be? the solenoid maybe

It could be the battery. The battery may need to be replace or car could need a tune-up. With the weather changing it creates more cranking power for the engine, especially if you have a vehicle that has a lot of electric components.

Help my 1.6 auto clio 99 wont start.i was mending my car and i dissconected the battery at the earth.i fix it and connected back up and tryed starting the car it would'nt start lots off the lights flash on...

I'd re-check the battery connections. Starters usually take lots of current, and if there is a bad connection, the voltage will drop and other electrical accessories will stop working (and things will get hot).

Has power but wont start.maybe alternator.

The battery is Dead. It has the volts to run the lights and radio witch use very little power. The problem is the battery does not have the amps (a whole lot of power)
to turn over the engine. A jump start may work. It might need a good charge. If the battery is over 4 years old it may and should be replaced. They only last 4-5 years

The car wont start, it clicks a bit. makes no other noise, lights other electrical work

Chances are it's the battery - especially if it's more than two years old. The starter draws a LOT more power than the lights and accessories, and batteries often give no warning before they die. Pull the cables off the battery (remove the negative first and reconnect it last), clean the terminals real good with a wire brush, reconnect the cables, and then try to jump start the car. If that works, drive it for at least ten minutes, and then shut it off and try to restart it. If it turns right over the problem was corrosion on the terminals. If not, you are likely in the market for a new battery.

Pickup wont start

You didn't give me a lot to go on but I'll try. First make sure the battery has a good charge. If the head lights come on and all the electrical items power up than the battery terminals should be ok. If not or the lights dim badly when you try to key start clean the battery terminals. If it still will not crank, (turn over,) than it is more than likely the starter. Good luck.
