Usually they are at the back of the tranny with a 2 wire plugin and one bolt holding it in...if not it may be part of your rear ABS sensor in your rear end...do you have any codes about ABS

This could be a stuck valve in the transmission. Sometimes LUCAS TRANSMISSION treatment will help, but sometimes it is something needing repaired internally.

I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 series pickup truck. The speedometer doesnt work. I've changed the speed sensor on the transmission and the wiring to the computer to the sensor, and the speedometer head...

The speed cluster work from the ABS speed sensors that have separate computer it is on engine compartment near battery and brake booster. This computer work independent and only get 12v and can bus send all the info by a can bus 2 wires that run to dodge ECM same wires run to cluster. I make a diesel swap speed work ok but not my RPM any ideas

check wiring between VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) on transmission and the harness.
Does the odometer work? If so, it's the gauge that is bad.

WHERE IS THE SPEED SENSOR LOCATED ON THE TRANSMISSION ON A 1999 DODGE 1500, 4X4

The output speed sensor is on the tail (rear) of the transmission. There is also a speed sensor in rear differential.

Was the sensor an aftermarket one of did you get it from the daler. Aftermarket ones aren't always gapped right. After that check your ABS sensors. I can tell you how if needed. You just need a multi meter.
