My Toyota echo did not pass smog high Nox what could be wrong?

Nox is created in the engine, and the hotter the engine the more Nox is created.Get your car to run as cool as you can,oil change.engine/rad flush, fresh coolant, tune it up etc.In addition a high nox number may be a sign that your catalytic converter needs to be replaced. The converter is where the nox gets neutralized. good luck

How do you kknow if you need a fuel pump or started

A failing fuel pump will not create enough pressure in the fuel system, potentially resulting in a loss of engine power or a "no start" condition. You may also have a lean running condition that can set a diagnostic trouble code and turn on the Check Engine Light.
Fuel pumps require replacement if they leak or begin making too much noise, which is a sign of malfunction.

2000 ford taurus fuel pump

You may have a ground wire issue with the pump. If the current ground wire termination to frame or body is showing signs of corrosion, try clean the area and terminal down to clean metal and reassemble- then make sure the area is painted and topcoated. Primer is not water resistant even.

If that does not remedy it, wait until pump fails and be sure to replace the connector in the tank itself when the pump is replaced.

Where is the fuel filter on a 2003 Chrysler concord

Prior to disconnecting fuel lines, the fuel system pressure must be relieved to prevent accidental spray of fuel.
After the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal driveability symptoms may occur. The vehicle may need to be driven while it relearns its adaptive strategy.
Remove the fuel pump relay from the Power D A clogged fuel filter or problems with the electrical system powering the fuel pump can result in symptoms similar to a failed fuel pump. Have the shop verify that the pump is the problem before replacing. The fuel filter should always be replaced when replacing the fuel pump.

The fuel pump on my 1988 crown victoria runs constantly when the engine is running and pump is very noisy. When i turn the key on, the pump runs then stopps but runs constantly when engine is running. Why?

The fuel pump is supposed to run constantly when the engine is running. It is pumping fuel to the engine which is in constant need of fuel. It is starting when the ignition is turned on and then shuts down after a few seconds if you do not start the engine. This is exactly what it is supposed to do. You have no problem except for the pump being noisy. On a car that is 22 years old, I would suspect the fuel pump is failing and the noise you hear is it's death nil. Change the fuel filter and if the noise continues be prepared to have the pump replaced. It may fail suddenly or it may become hard to start. If you have never had it replaced just go ahead and do so, to prevent being stranded and a towing fee when it does fail.

Engine chugs and loses power, light comes on, now broke alt belt

  1. Check the ignition switch condition and operation. The electrical contacts in the run position may be worn or damaged. Try restarting the engine with all electrical accessories in the off position. Sometimes turning the key on an off will help in emergency situations, however once the switch has shown signs of failure, it should be replaced as soon as possible.
  2. Check for loose, corroded, damaged or shorted wires for the ignition system and repair or replace.
  3. Check for manifold vacuum leaks or vacuum hose leakage and repair or replace parts as necessary.
  4. Measure the fuel pump delivery volume and pressure. Low fuel pump pressure can also be noticed as a lack of power when accelerating. Make sure the fuel pump lines are not restricted. The fuel pump output is not adjustable and requires fuel pump replacement to repair.
  5. Check the engine fuel and ignition management system. Inspect the sensor wiring and electrical connectors. A dirty, loose or damaged sensor or control module wire can simulate a failed component.
  6. Check the exhaust system for internal restrictions.

Last week, when I started my '89 Dodge Dakota, I saw that the "check engine" light was on. I put the transmission shift in "drive" and notice that the engine ran "rough" and I drove away. When I stopped at...

unless there are some other underlying issues, they may be there still unless you clear the codes and turn off the check engine light..or else in the distributor itself you will see two long metal pieces at the top..they should be screwed to the distributor housing. there should be two individual pieces..those are your coils..one is your "run pickup coil" and the other is your "start pick up coil" if your run pick up coil is bad then a tune up won't accomplish much..you will need to take that to your mechanic to have it diagnosed properly..if faulty, replace. if not, then perhaps its a fuel issue or bad alternator.

Lost of power when accelerate, changed fuel filter but worse. engine light on also.

im assuming since u say u changed fuel filter that this is acummins diesel. and when u say that made it wirse it makes me suspect a failing/failed lift pump. the lift pump supplies low pressure fuel to your injection pump which creates the pressure for your engine to make hp/torwue sounds like enigine may have been starving for fuel then when filter replaced air in system caused further starvation. replace your lift pump
