Question about 2006 Dodge Charger

1 Answer

2006 Dodge Charger will not start. I put the key in, turned the ignition, car started, and engine ran for a second or two, then shut itself off. I did this a few times hoping the engine would continue to run, but each time the engine would shut itelf off. Now, the car will not even start. I put the key in, turn the ignition, and get nothing. Electrical system seems to be fine. Lights, horn, radio all work fine. Maybe a sensor or fuel filter? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Try this to reset the system

Insert the ignition key into the driver side door lock.

  • Turn the key counterclockwise to unlock the door.

  • Turn the key clockwise to initiate the alarm activation sequence.

  • Turn the key counterclockwise. The alarm will stop and reset itself.

I have a 2006 dodge magnum it ran fine to the store I turn it off and came back out an it won't start back up what could it be

your anti theft device is activated, you need to lock and unlock your doors a couple times with the key fob,not the key,and then you need to put the key in the ignition and start it,if you dont have your key fob, call your car dealer to get a new one, they are programmed for each car only, you cannot bypass it.

Your electrics are definitely messed up, you need to bring that in to a mechanic to assess what connections are bad, and where.

My 2007 dodge caliber wont start

You are dealing with 2 possible problem. The ignition switch,or the alarm, If you have a alarm problem the vehicle will crank then in 2 seconds shut down, this is because the key is recognized, now if this is the problem roll down a window and disconnect the negative battery terminal, put the key in the ignition but in the off position. After 5 minutes reconnect the battery and turn the ignition on but dont crank the engine leave for 1 minute. Then see if that resolved the issue. Now if its an ignition switch problem crank the engine and slowly let it go.try to keep the key in the position where it stays running. By the way there is a campaign of a recall dealing with a TIPM software update Re-configure ,anti-theft system. Customer satisfaction notice G42. You will have to see the dealer for this campaign.

I ran out of diesel. put some in and car still wont start

    1. The engine does not have any fuel system screw bleeder!
    2. The only one way for start the engine is to fill up the tank, then turn the ignition key in "ON" position for 4 - 5 times, wait for 10 seconds between two attempts, without cranking engine.
    3. After that push the clutch pedal, (if exists), to the floor, and the accelerator pedal to the floor too. Now turn the ignition key in "ON" position, wait for 5 seconds, and crank the engine for maximum 40 ... 50 seconds. Wait for 60 seconds between two starting attempts, in order to save the battery & starter motor.
    4. Repeat the step no.#3 until start the engine.
