SOURCE: replacing the front axle on a 93 subaru legacy

When I replace the axle halves, I run the Nut off till it is level with the shaft end. THen take a piece of wood and set it across the shaft and hit the wood with a hammer. Usually only takes one or two hits and pops right out. Then I remove the nut and finish removal . Hope this helps, Good luck and have a great day.

Hi there I want to know if the SVX cv axle is same axle as the impreza, legacy and forester? Thanks

Yes the early subaru's all use the same front and rear axles
Fronts are easy to change. rears are not.
The only difference in the early style axles that use pin on inner joints are the outer joints with abs rings.

1996 subaru legacy wagon 2.2 AWD leaking tranny fluid out of bell housing. Transmission lines not leaking. Assume it's coming off of the shaft on the torque converter. What seals could be leaking? & can...

I'm not sure about what gasket to check, but I've always left my manual tranny's connected to the transaxles and removed the axles at the transaxle. This made simpler by popping the ball joints out, thus allowing the hub assembly to swing away. Hope this helps.

Removing lg nut from axle on driver side of 1995 Subaru Legacy

It is much easier to loosen the nut when the tire is on it and the wheel is on the ground. You need to remove the center cap to access it. With out the wheel and brakes on it you would have to find some way to hold the axle still while breaking free the axle nut.

1993 subaru legacy front cv axles

First thing to have checked would be the front CV axles. If the rubber boots rip and allow the grease out it can damage the joints and they will make a clicking sound. Worn out axle joints can also bind and make it feel jerky. If they are making that loud of a noise it could become a safety issue, have them checked out soon.
