The ignition lock is a passlock that makes the computer work. the magnet in the lock makes a small elect. current to activate the computer . if magnet ( its small on the side in the back portion of the cylinder) may need to replace ignition cylinder.

under the steering column, there are three or four little holes in the plastic covering. If you look inside, one of them (the one on the right side toward the dash) there is a brass pin inside. This is the pin to release the key. As far as the key not turning, I have had the same problem. The first time I replaced the ignition switch and that solved the problem. However, this makes no sense because the ignition switch has nothing to do with the tumbler being locked. GMC thinks that my anti theft system, which is inside the ignition cylinder is the problem. By removing the ignition switch, it reset the pass lock anti-theft system and temporarily fixed the problem. So, try removing the ignition switch and then plugging it back in. If that doesn't work, your in the same boat as I am, and we may both need new ignition cylinders.

Had the same problem. There was something loose under the fuse box on the drivers side under the hood, If I moved it, the lights on the i/p and drl lights came on and it would start

I had this same problem. Under your steering wheel column is a tab that pops out. Stick a small screw driver up about 5 inches. There is a plunger that is keeping your key in. It should pop right out.

I would check the fuel pump turn key on do not start or turn engine over just until dash lights up and you should hear a grunt sound come from back seat area if you do not hear this grunt your fuel pump is not working. Also if you have a check engine light on you should have your can scaned with a OBD 2 scan tool to retreve and faults the cars computer might be undrer going.
