Plastic valve cover 70-90 inch lbs metal or cast 10 ft lbs. criss cross working your way outward in small increments to slowly draw the cover down. CLEAN bolts and bolt holes for a more positive retention. I spray the holes out with brake cleaner.

Valve cover bolts are in most cases reusable unless rounded off or striped. If the bolts are m6 89in/lbs should be good m8 105 in/lbs.

I need valve cover torch pattern and inch pounds to replace gasket on 07 ford fusion front and back

the removing of the bolts to the valve cover isn't that crucial in what order you remove them and the torque is only around 25lbs max , if you mean the cylinder head follow this link and click on TORQUE TABLES

How to replace a valve cover gasket on my 1987 Ford Ranger with a 2.0 L engine

Relatively simple gig. Remove wires from plugs making sure to note which leads to which plug so that firing order is maintained on re-installation, remove vacuum hose from pvc valve, remove six valve cover retaining bolts and remove valve cover. Clean that up making sure there is no residue on gasket mating surface on wither the valve cover itself or the top side of the header. place new gasket in place and replace valve cover torquing bolts to appx. 72-108 inlb. Replace pvc vacuum line followed by plug wires and you\'re set. This is a stripped down version as there will be many hoses and lines in the way but you should just be able to wiggle past these. If you do end up taking anything else out just make sure you remember where and how it connect and you\'ll do fine. Nothing this high up is that terribly sensitive. Good Luck!

What tools do I need to replace my valve cover gasket?

Combination wrench set 1/4 " to 1" and/or 6mm to 19mm box-end & open-end or deep-well and short socket sets same size as wrenches with a 3/8" and 1/2" drive sets, Torque wrench, soft-faced hammer ( plastic or rubber ). The proper torque for valve cover mounting bolts is 85 inch-pounds for 1994 and later years.
Remove crankcase ventilation tube and hose from valve cover, Remove wire loom clips, note the locations of the studs.
Remove accelerator cable, kick-down cable and cruise-control cable from the snap in clips on top of valve cover, disconnect them at the throttle body .
Remove the three bolts and the control cable bracket.
Remove the valve cover bolts and lift cover off. If cover is stuck use a soft-face mallet to tap on the cover to break it loose.
DO NOT PRY ON THE gasket flange.

Fixing valve cover gasket leak on

  • Just drain the oil and water a bit,
  • remove the stuff over the valve cover,
  • remove the valve cover without getting killed by the cam springs that tend to eject the cover with great force
  • remove all the old gasket material
  • seat a new gasket
  • triple check it and add flex gasket where that's part of the gasket's instructions
  • and replace the valve cover
  • ...and the stuff that was on it.
Alternately, tighten any under-spec cover bolts with a torque wrench.

It is common to ask a garage to work through it, but if you get a pre-formed gasket and read through your strategy for valve cover management a few times (e.g. per Chilton's service manual) s.t. (such that) you can bolt it back on when your gasket's replaced, you could do it in a couple of hours yourself.
