Re: 1999 chevy tahoe when it gets wet doors lock.
They're shorting from the water running down the inside of your door...pull the door panel and install a sheet of plastic over the window controls with duct tape at the top, sortof like a "flap" over the top of the window switches...make it 5-6 wider than the switch area. Your window "sweep" (at the top of the door) is most likely shot. Good Luck

A common issue with the later 90's chevy was an ignition tumbler going bad. So, where you put your key in to start the vehicle--this part needs replaced. One I seen actually stuck in the starting position and burned up the starter before power could be shut off to the vehicle. Lock/Unlock buttons on the door? Try disassembly of switch and cleaning the contacts with electronic parts cleaner, dry and re-assemble. Be sure to use cleaner that is safe for plastics.
yes i have had this problem in my 1999 chevy surburban but sorry i dont know what it is i took it to 4 different shops and they didnt know either you can try the dealer sorry i couldnt help more.. good luck
The door locks on my 1999 tahoe stopped working and I checked the fuse, which was fine. The problem turned out to be that the fuse for my cigarette lighter was bad and for some reason it also must be working in order for the door locks to work. Put in a new cigarette lighter fuse and the door locks worked again!
Flgators1885 - There is a bundle of wires running through the door harness into the chassis. This group of wires controls all of the drivers door functions. If there is a short due to frayed insulation in one or more wires and or moisture has penetrated the harness or the switch, a dead short could occur, which sounds like your problem as it is unlikely all of the individual switches would fail at the same time. Do a visual inspection for damage to the harness and moisture penetration/ check all fuses /check for power at the switch as it sounds like it has gotten wet. Before taking the door panel off try blowing compressed air over the switch opening in an attempt to remove any moisture present. If could be something as simple as a loose switch connector but the door panel will have to be removed to troubleshoot further.
you will have to write your vehicles vin number down wich is if you look throught the windshild on the drivers side you will see it its a little plate with numbers but right down the vin number and take you drivers license and Registration with you to the chevy dealer ship and request the remote for that vehicle. and they should be able to get you one. as far as i know the remote is the only way to get the alarm off. I hope this helps you
