If it wont stop charging then there is a bad regulator/rectafier,and it will need to be replaced.on most vehicles the reg/rec is usually inside of the alternator and in that case the alternator will need replacement, but in your case i am pretty sure that the reg/rec is separate from the alternator. In order to find out if it is separate from the alt call an auto parts store and ask them if they sell just the regulator/rectifier separate from the alternator. If they do then replace just the reg/rec.If it is not sold separately then replace the whole alternator

I am getting P0622 on my Chrysler Town and Country. I have a brand new battery and the alternator tested good at Auto Zone. I got 12.4 volts at the battery with the van off and between 7 and 8 volts...

if you getting 12.4 volts with no power load and engine goes down to 7-8 volt should be between 13-14 volts on idle would say the voltage regulator has gone.some are replaceable but most are not so you will need a new alternator or a secondhand one that is know to be working.

P0601, and p0622

P0622 is "Generator field 'F' control circuit malfunction"- your alternator has a circuit malfunction in the voltage regulator function. You need to have the charging system checked. It may be a wiring problem in the circuit to the alternator. A shop needs to test it out.
P0601 is "Internal control module memory check sum error"- I have no idea what that means, but is probably set because the charging system has a malfunction, and the result may be memory loss in the control module when the alternator acts up. Have the 0622 fixed, erase the codes, and see if the 0601 returns. That is what I would do, anyway.

What is code p0622

Hi there:

DTC P0622 - Generator Field Control Circuit
This is a trouble code relates to the charging system and means that the Powertrain Control Module is trying to control the generator field with no result during monitoring.

This problem could be caused:
- open/shorted within the field control circuit between the PCM and the alternator ( a brown/gray wire ),
- generator ground circuit (brown/black wire),
- generator itself, or
- faulty PCM.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.
