If your vehicle has rear disc brakes check to see if one of the calipers is stuck causing the brake to be on.That was what happened on my Z-71.I put new pads and rotors on and the right rear brake would not let off.i had to replace the caliper.

How do i release the brake caliper pistons to be able to fit new brake pads on a renault trafic 08 van. thank you

Renault trafic brake calipers on the front can be pushed in with a G-clamp, but rear calipers need to be wound in, if you look at the piston it has notches for a winding tool!

Screeching sounds possibly to do with breaks?

garages, but not all of them will put on the cheapest pads that they can find and charge a premium price. I did this once! because the boss told me too. the car came back for rattling and squealing. I replaced the pads with the premium ones and they never returned with this problem. from then on I only used premium pads.

Caliper piston wont push back

Starting at the basics, I assume the bleeder screw on the caliper has been opened; without doing so you may damage your break system. This needs to be done to give the fluid somewhere to go as the pistin pushes back in. Be certain to capture the fluid properly and dispose of properly. Don't get any on your paint as it will cut thru quickly. If the caliper bleeder has been opened and still will not travel back in I'd have to guess thatthe piston is highly corroded. I'd the replace with a rebuilt unit.
I hope this may have helped,
Tom

Got a guy to change break pads for me on my car. breaks now drag

i assume you mean the front pads, because the back are probably shoes..is it both front wheels or just one? if it is the front brakes locking up, its either the hose to that caliper is collapsed or the caliper it self is faulty. if its the rear brakes, its possible they were put on backwards...little shoe goes toward the fron and the bigger one goes toward the back...maybe they were put together wrong..id say if this guy that did your brakes, cant figure the problem out, then he shouldnt be doing brake jobs!

I need to change my rear break pads and also my emergency brake will not dissengage once put on. How do i fix both?

My hyundai had the emergency brake bracket (mounted to the back of the caliper) rust solid. I used rust eater to get it to slightly break loose. I eventually had to replace both calipers. It is a very consistant problem. My new ones need alot of attention now as well I covered them in caliper paint to help with the rusting. The pads are very simple replacement 2 bolts on the back of the caliper. Remove the pads then screw back in the piston with a import tool from any auto parts store put pads back in, put back on the caliper.
