Question about 2000 Volkswagen Passat 4Motion
The small display and lights, but no longer displays the mileage, everything seems to work fine. checked the fuses and they seem ok, after use to jump-cables!!!
Hi. It sounds like there was a voltage spike. I suspect that the crystal display has blown. This may be repaired at a electronics shop, or a new dash cluster would be needed.

I had the same problem and it was the fuse. I don't remember the number, but it has the symbol for the dome light and that fuse also controls the windows and locking system.

SOURCE: VW temperature display
The sensor for the temp display in located in front of the radiator under the hood, it is round and has 2 wires going to it, plug and unplug it a few times and recheck to see if the display works, if not replace the sensor.
