If your 2002 Renault Laguna won't start and the gear indicator light is flashing, it's likely that there is an issue with the neutral safety switch. This switch is responsible for ensuring that the vehicle can only be started in Park or Neutral, and if it's malfunctioning, it may prevent the engine from starting.
You can try shifting the gear lever between Park and Neutral a few times to see if that resolves the issue. If not, you may need to have the neutral safety switch inspected or replaced by a qualified mechanic. Other potential causes of a no-start condition include a dead battery, a faulty starter motor, or a clogged fuel filter.
Vehicle will not start (I assume you mean won't "crank" / "turn-over") until wiggle gear in park or neutral - Replace the Neutral Safety Switch. First check terminal connection (plug)) if okay replace Neutral Safety Switch. The Neutral Safety Switch will not cause the vehicle to shut off while driving.
To diagnose stalling - next time it stalls and doesn't start check for spark and fuel. With no check engine light or codes mentioned in your post also indicates it is a spark or fuel problem (ignition problem/not emission problem (the sensors)). Keep smiling.
THE FUEL PRESSURE IS PROBABLY LOW. BY TRYING TO START IT YOU ARE BUILDING UP FUEL PRESSURE AND BY THE TIME YOU SHIFT IT INTO NEUTRAL IT HAS BUILT UP ENOUGH FUEL PRESSURE TO START.
A neutral park switch keeps you from activating the starter in drive or reverse. It also turns the reverse lights on. Its on top of the transmission at the end of the shift cable . If it does not turn over in park try it in neutral, Clean battery cables. Check fuel pressure. Is check engine light on?
Only other 2 things that come to mind are safety neutral switch, try starting in different spots, neutral, hold key to start & move shifter slowly through the gears. Other is fusible link under hood may be bad. How hard is it to get to fuel pump connector/wires?
