Check the fuel pressure while the problem occures....needs to hold 35psi or so under load. You might also have ignition breakdown. Is the Check eng light on? You have coil on plug right? you really need a scanner to id the misfiring cylinder the try moving coils around to see if the problem move with it.

i know that the 5.4l are known too misfire if you wash them because the water runs down between the coil and the heads. pull all your coilpacks and check for rust on the spring in the boot and use compressed air to blow any exessive mosture out of the coil to plug area.

My 1990 Chevy k1500 5.7L It will hesitate, spit, sputter even stall. I did a full tune up new spark plugs/wires, cap/rotor new VSS, fuel filter, put good gas in it, injector cleaner in it. Help

FUEL PRESSURE MUST BE IN THE 35-45 LB RANGE TO OPERATE PROPERLY. CHECK YOUR FUEL PRESSURE AND THEN FUEL QUANTITY BEING DELIVERED. YOU MAY HAVE A FAULTY FUEL PUMP WHICH IS VERY COMMON

Spits and sputters until warm

TUNE-UP, SPARK PLUGS, WIRES, AIR & FUEL FILTERS, FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER IN TANK, ALSO REPLACE PCV VALVE, & MOST IMPORTANT, REPLACE EGR VALVE, IT GETS TOTALLY CLOGED UP, YOUR ENGINE IS KNOWN FOR THAT. I HAVE A GNC 2500, 3/4 TON. SEEN IT ALL. CHANGE YOUR DISTRIBUTOR CAP & ROTOR ALSO. JUST DO IT !!!!!!!!!!!

When engin warms losses all power if floored it just sputters!

Have u replaced the MAF sensor?, that is what this sounds like, when they fail they cause a severe loss of power but don't turn on the check engine light, a quick way to test it is to disconnect the sensor and idle the engine for a moment then drive it, if it runs better the sensor is the problem. Here is a photo.

Hesitation when pressing on the acelerator goning uphill, does it need a new fuel filter

Well to me it sounds like it could be a couple of things. A weak fuel pump is probably the biggest clue. I had this same issue in my 1997 s-10, at engine speeds of more then 2500 rpms the fuel pump couldnt feed the engine enough fuel, causing it to hesitate, spit and sputter in some cases under heavy take offs it would stall. Also it could be a dirty fuel filter, air filter, or clogged fuel injectors. let me know if any of these suggestions work.
