I HAVE A 1999 MERCURY TRACER THE TRANSMISSION MOUNT BRACKET IS IN THE WAY TO GET THE TRANSMISSION PAN OFF ANY IDEAS??

sometimes its easier to use a engine lift and just loosen the motor mounts and ****** mount and lift the motor and trans just enough to remove the pan but makesure you dont lift to much as to hit the firewall or underside of the car.

I need steps of removing a transmission from 1981 chevy tow truck

  • Remove the TV cable or transmission throttle cable from the carburetor or throttle body. Remove the upper bolt holding the transmission dip stick but do not remove the tube. Disconnect the negative cable to the battery. Drain the transmission fluid by removing the transmission pan. Replace the pan after draining the fluid.
Remove the shift linkage and the wires to the neutral safety switch. Remove the speedometer cable by unscrewing the cap at the point it enters the drive gear in the tailshaft. If it has an electronic speedometer, disconnect the electrical connector.

  • Install the engine support stand above the engine. Remove the CV joints. Remove all electrical connectors from the transmission. Remove the bolts in the torque converter. Place the floor jack under the transmission. Raise the transmission just enough to support it. Remove the transmission mounts. Lower the transmission enough to have access to remove all the transmission bolts. On a rear wheel drive vehicle, remove the bolts in the bottom of the transmission mount. Raise the transmission enough to remove the cross member.
Once the bolts are out remove the cross member and then lower the transmission. Remove the dip stick tube from the transmission by lifting up. If it is hard to come out tap its mounting bracket with something and it will come up and out. Support the transmission securely on the jack. Using a flat head, separate the transmission from the engine. Lower the transmission.

    hope this helps

but you can also just pull the motor and trans for better access ive also got an 85 chevy im about to do some work on ganna pull and rebuild the motor which is a first for me so if u know any one i could also get some tips from help would be awsome thank you

I have a 1987 nissan pick up d-21 with the 3.5 DOHC engine and a 5 speed manual trans in this 4X4 I am pulling the engine out, do i have to pull the trans ? or can i oull just the engine? The oil pan seems...

I don't recall what those are like under there but things I have done to leave the transmission in are,
Pull the drive shafts and unbolt the transmission mount so it can be slid back but left in the truck.
Unbolt the mount (or leave it bolted if it will move enough) so the transmission still sits on it but jack the front of it up while lifting the motor so it can be pulled out of the trans enough to clear the input shaft.
Sometimes they take a little pull the motor forward and inch and then lift and inch then pull forward another inch and then lift another inch.....

Good luck on your swap. I was just doing the head on a 87 Nissan D21 with the Z24i and was looking for a later donar with ported injection for it instead of that TB injection also.

How do you replace the clutch on a 94 tercel

pull the cv axles, remove the transmission, remove the clutch assembly , reassemble, if you have never done this before I suggest you purchase the manual for that car , it has the step by step process,, which they don't allow me enough space here to fully answer that

We are repalcing a transmission on a suzuki forenza .How do you remove the axels

You will need to remove the lower control arm from the knuckle/hub carrier(at the balljoint) and also unbolt the hubnut. You should then be able to pull the hub assembly away from the vehicle to give you enough free space to remove the axle from the carrier. The other end of the axle pulls out of the transmission.

There isn't enough room to pull the engine without removing the converter. You can try to separate the engine and the trans far enough to get to the bolts with a wrench. Or remove the engine and transmission together and unbolt the two out of the car.
