It sounds like a vacuum leak issue but you'll need to get the system scanned to find out what exactly is triggering the code. You can get a free scan at most auto part stores (like Autozone), or take it to a reputable shop and pay for a scan. Be sure you're tightening your gas cap properly (and that it's an OEM cap). A missing or loose gas cap can trigger a code like you describe.

Try resetting the check engine light by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes (While the battery is disconnected turn your key on and off a few times and run through some switches on the dashboard to drain out any remaining power that might still be in the system). If your vehicle is equipped with a backup power source for memory purposes it could take a bit longer. Reconnect your battery and everything should be reset as far as warning lights. If the check engine light comes back on i would say you have an unrelated issue.

Sounds like you may have picked up some water at last refueling. Drain the tank or just drive the car till you get rid of all the bad fuel. U should go back to where you got the lousy gas and have them reimburse you. I did.

How do it reset the engine maintenance light

Could be your gas cap. Make sure it is tight. unhook the positive cable from your battery for about ten minutes. If it comes back take it to autozone and ask for a free code check diagnostic with their obdII meter..

Run into PepBoys, autozone or similar big auto parts stores & most will scan for trouble codes free of charge. Write down the code(s) they retrieve and if they can't tell you right then & there what's wrong, get back to us & we'll help.

i have the same problem and it will cost to have it fixed.but right now we are using our trip odometer by 1st fulling up and refueling at 300 miles then resetting.as far as the check engine it could be as smple as a lose gascap. go to advance auto parts and ask them to check it.they will do it for free.if you buy the part from them you can take it back and they will clear your codes.hopes this helps you get by for a while
