My 99 intrepid continuously shuts off when im either coming to a stop or stopped. what may the cause be?

the device that controls your idle speed is called the idle air contol valve, or IAC. it gets gummed up with deposits that will need to be cleaned out. buy a can of spray carb cleaner and clean this valve. you may need some TORX bits to remove it. also clean the throttle bore and butterfly plate with an old tooth brush, carb cleaner and some towels. use the remaining carb cleaner to search for vacuum leaks; spray on vacuum hose connections and elbows, the idle speed will change if you spray on a leak. dont over do it because the carb cleaner is quite flammable- save your eyebrows.

solid lifters? i could be wrong but i think they are hydraulic lifters. ive had quite a few of them not pump up when re-installing the valvetrain and cause a tick. pull off the valvetrain and check to see if all the lifters/tappets are firm with no squish. that might be your problem

2000 dodge intrepid 2.7 sputtering, revs up

you need to ck some basics you could have a vacuum leak which would hide during warm up but cause havoc when hot,the leak would cause high idle then your pcm would try to lower idle to spec thru use of idle control motor causing surging idle ,also fuel pressure needs to be checked while acting up,may be more cost effective to pay for an hour of diagnostic.

99 Dodge Durango Dies When Slowing

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle rough idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve (IAC for short), they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.
