Hi. Please call your nearest Toyota dealer. Give the service dept your vehicle identification number (all 17 digits); the metal arm that you are speaking of may be replaced for free, under a recall program. It is commonly called the "relay rod". I hope this helps you out.

Remove the center console covering around the gearshift, you'll find a very small bulb there, it's very common for them to burnout, change it and you'll be fine.

No heat

I bet its the Heat / AC control unit....the slider that goes from hot to cold is probably broken, I replaced mine 2 times already in my 94 and need another

The slider has a wire that pulls a lever to open from hot to cold, its plastic and breaks inside, its on the top right back corner of get to it you must remove the arm rest top pad only , then the covering for the shift, there are 2 screws in the arm rest to remove shift cover, then you have to remove the facecover for the heat control unit ...

When you remove the shift covering there is a little plastic cover inside with a noch that marks where the shift goes to Park, Drive, Neutral you will see or hear it move just replace it so you know what gear your in when its put back together

What are rocker arms?

It is not you rocker arms. It is your control arms in the back end. They are more commonly refered to as trailing arms. What happens is the bushings go bad. Nissan accualtly put out a TSB about this issue. Your rear suspension has 4 control arms. Two top, two lower. It is common for the Lower's to go out at around 100,000 to 125,000 they normally run about 115.00 a piece. I would just replace the lower ones. The uppers don't normally go out. The tall tell to this problem is about anything past 25 Mph you suddenly let off the gas it sways. Then you go to excell and it does the same thing. Almost feals like the rear dif is trying to come out from under you. What happens is the bushings go bad so when it has any slack the rear end goes out of allignment. Very easy fix costly if you don't do it yourself.

My car isn't registering the geer to shift how can I fix it myself without having money?

If your problem is that your car is an automatic and when you get up to 2nd or 3rd it wont shift again. Then your engine is bad old... 94 huh.. if your car has an ECU in it you could set it to back up settings. and if you fool around with the oxygen sensor ie take it out. your car should get up to speed.

ive experienced this problem with my jeep... the geers not switching might be your tranny.... and the heat not working might be bcuz of the heater core... this will sometimes leak it most vehicles inside by where the passenger sits...

1990 honda accord, Low power output at higher gears?

I posted this problem. I asked around until I got enough of the same answer and found out that it was the transmission control unit. Pull up the front edge of your carpet on the passenger side and you'll se a steel cover with a couple 10 mm bolts in it, unplug the two on the lower right hand of the cover to make it easier to remove the controller.. There are two computers in this cover but the smaller one is for the transmission. Once I replaced this I also did the shift lock solenoid in the center console because it is believed to burn out the computer when it goes bad. I also replaced the shift selector solenoids ( two round solenoids located on one small plate near the top front of the transmission). Now my Honda shifts fine!!!
