Question about 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt

1 Answer

Radio Questionse I was wondering who could answer these questions. Will a factory/stock 2007-2009 fit in the spot of a 2006 radio? Are new harnesses needed? How do you take the molding off around the radio?

They are "security locked" and may affect several OTHER items on the car such as the AIRBAG...Do NOT attempt this at home...find a local car stereo installer it shouldn't be expensive

What is the 2001 4runner Premium Stereo wiring diagram?

stock? or non stock?
stock cars have like 2 to 6 radio options, all covered in the FSM
"factory service manual" (helm.com)
or at alldata.com, DIY for $15 access.
if non stock visit your cars radio maker web site. get manual. free.

same answer for all cars.
or go to any car store, buy the radio harness connector kit.
in kit is drawing that , bingo names each wire. and color.

all cars made same answer.

Im putting in a radio into my 1990 fifth avenue and i cant find a wiring diagram that is correct. i also was wondering if the stock speakers have a amp or something attached?

you can find an adapter that installs between the factory harness on the car and the type of radio you are installing,so you don`t have to cut and splice, you just have to unhook the original radio and install the harness to the original harness and connect the other end to the radio your installing and your done.you can find these at most radio and accessory stores.

Radio wire harness cut

You can buy a kit from a number of sources to solve this problem. Instructions come with the kit. If you are putting a stock radio back in go to a junk yard and cut the loom out of another truck and marry it to your truck. If you don't want to do either of these things the fat red wire is almost always hot. The antenna cable is unique and will only fit in one spot. the speaker wires are small diameter and will work no matter which way you hook them up as long as one hot (speaker) wire and one ground wire go to each speaker. Have fun.

I AM TRYIN TO INSTALL AN AFTERMARKET CD PLAYER IN MY 2006 CHEVY C

Some cobalts have the controls on the radio - some on the steering wheel depending on your trim level.

After you have the 2 side panels off - the radio trim will simply pull off in the same manner.

How to remove factory radio

Removing the radio bezel is easy, which is the plastic surrounding the radio including the heater vents. Slide something thin, or your fingers underneath from the bottom of the bezel and gently pull towards you, carefull not to break any tabs. Once you have one tab out keep working all around the bezel until its off. You will then see the radio and how its mounted. There are 4 screws holding the radio in. Remove and put in the cup holder so you dont lose them. Pull the radio out towards you until you can reach behind and unclip it from the harness. You must also remove the antenna wire from the back of the radio. (before you begin its a good idea to unhook the battery)

To install an Ipod they sell the Ipac-chy, which is a can-bus unit. The unit clips into the radio harness then the other side clips into the car harness. They are around $80. It comes with a patch cable that charges the ipod as well. Look around online for the best price. Metra I believe has one too.

you will need to unscrew your dash and pull off the front plate of your dash, then you will need to unscrew the stock radio, then you will need to go ahead and pull out the adapter from the back of your radio. Next you will need to attach your adapter harness to your car harness and splice the color coded wires to the harness on your new cd player. After that, you will need to plug your antenna back into your new cd player, Note that some cd players will require an adapter, these can be found at circuit city or at your local car dealerships.-Shocker
