1996 s 10 wont switch from blend to front to floor only blows up like defrost

You have a broken vacuum line (probably in the engine compartment). Look for the plastic vacuum line coming out from the firewall area and follow it. Trace it all the way to the engine intake manifold. If the plastic tubing is broken (most likely) it can be repaired by using windshield washer hose (available at any parts retailer) to make a "splice" in the plastic tubing.

NOTE: Some of the S-10s have a vacuum reservoir attached to the left (driver's) side of the hood near the windshield The vacuum hose to the reservoir likes to break in this area. Sometimes it gets holes only in one side, so be sure to inspect it thoroughly.

2002 Nissan Frontier. Vacuum problem

jjgabrovic,

The windshield washer hoses have nothing to do with any electical componenents on the car. You simply won't get water to the windshield.

I suggest locating, and purchasing if necessary a repair manual for this truck. These newer engines have so many wires, and hoses and can be hard to trace.

All vaccum lines start from the engine area, tranny area, and lead to the firewall (back) and other compenants.

Start looking at different compenants that have small rubber hoses and try to trace them as far as you can. Search top and bottom, front and back, side to side. These hoses are sometimes linked with others by T's, and V's and such as vacuum operates several different components at once from one source.

I highly suggest getting a repair manual; CHILTON is the best, as it is more details and descriptive, and provides clear pictures to show particular components and such.

Please, let me know if you need any further assistance with this matter.

Cordially,

Remove the windshield wiper arms. Remove the phillips screws from the black plastic cowling and remove. The washer nozzles are in the cowling, so you should be able to get at the hose.
