Fuel ECU fuse keeps blowing (30 amp)

I just bought a 93 wrangler with a 4.0 the other day and yesterday it really started messing up, the fuel ecu fuse keeps blowing, i went through 6 fuses yesterday and cant figure out the problem, when the fuse blows the jeep dies, when i put a new fuse in the jeep it wont start back up unless i poor gas on the air cleaner like im priming it, it seems like the fuel pump shuts down for a while also when it happens, i tried to reset the ecu but did not help, can anyone help, any suggestions? thanx

    is there a way to test the fuel pump for binding without dropping the tank by contanuity?

Your fuel pump is internally binding and causing the fuse to blow. Change the pump (and filter while you're back there.)

    You can listen for the pump at the tank. If you don't hear it, it's not running. You can also put a pressure gauge on the fuel rail to test pressure there while in no-start condition. Check harness side of pump connector to make sure power is getting there from relay also.

Hi i had the same problem but the fuse 30amps is getting cut everytime when i turn the key ...even i fix new pump and new relay

20 amp ECM B fuse


check again the fuel pump. check the resistance if too low. or unplug the pump and put a fuse again, if the fuse will not blow, then the pump went bad again.

92 geo tracker keeps blowing fuel fuse 15 amp but when I go to a 20 amp it is fine gas tank is haff full of fuel what is my problem


first off each fuse has a name , so what is the correct name, the 92
has 3 EFI fuses, DOME (memory) IG-Coil (ecu and spark) and "FI"
never up the amps ever or burn the wires up. sorry but that is a FACT. the a above data is wrong, this cars pump draws 4amps.
if more its bad, sure if over 15 it blows, but is a bad pump.
all pumps like to do that, they burn up and suck power, like a piggy.

the 92 uses these JUNK brand caps, large electrolytic caps.
and they love to short, on all 89 to 95 trackers and sidekicks in usa.
they are marked Rubycon.

is engine 8 valve or 16?, they have different EFI , systems.
Im sure its FI, as it runs ECU and pump. so..... and they love to blow.

what i do is remove the left rear tail light,lens.
then see the pink pump wires, I measure the pump current
i reads 4 amps, with helper keying on over and over.
see?
now if near 4amps, then the ECU is shortings it CORNER cap.

the caps dry out,inside, leak acid , wreck copper traces
and then the cap shorts, some times , it loves to short on speed bumps. due to vibration, its just a bad 50 cent part
that any tech can change or any HAM radio guy, etc.
with simple soldering tools and skills
do tell engine type G16a or b (a= 8v, and b = 16v) and we can
point to exact part bad.

can be lots of things, top reasons are.
is this the 16valve.>? or 8?
shorted ECU, caps shorted out , inside, (1 time event)
shorted injectors 1 of 4
shorted fuel pump very common. and overloads ECU 12v power lines

Fuel pump just stopped,ECU-I.G fuse burnt changed fuse , still don't hear pump,if line was blocked would pump shutdown?


FUEL PUMP MORE LIKELY WORN OUT SHORT OUT.BESURE REPLACE FUEL PUMP WIRES IF FUEL PUMP HAS TO BE REPLACED.CODE SCAN FOR ECU FAULT. IF FUEL FILTER STOPPED UP FUEL PUMP WILL SHORT OUT.

ok first there could be a direct short in the ecu causing the fuse to blow OR the alternator/starter solenoid could be shorting out and blowing the fuse unhook the alternator and see if it blows the fuse then repeat with the starter and the ecu and let me know what happens

The ECM1 fuse blowing usually indicates that the fuel pump wires shorted inside the tank. If you drop the tank and remove the module, you will probably find the insulation burned off the gray pump wire.

Unplug the O2 Sensor and see if it blow again. If it does not the sensor is faulty. Replace with a new one. BTY its in the exhast system.

1999 Hyundai elantra died while driving found ecu fuse blown replaced lasted half a mile and blew again


Check your o2 sensor harness. The harness if not properly secured will rub on the axle to a point where it rubs through the insulation of the wire & shorts on the axle causing the ECU fuse (20A) to blow. Repair the harness & replace the fuse & bada bing! You should be in business! Hope that works. IF NOT follow this K.I.S.S.

Blowing ECM-B fuses


The first thing you should do is to locate the oil pressure switch/sending unit.


This switch serves two functions.

1) provide oil pressure reading

2) disable the fuel pump relay in event of oil pressure loss.

When this switch is failing to provide the correct pressure to the ECU. The wiring harness can overheat and eventually create a short.

ECM B blow is because the harness is grounding/shorting.

===

DO NOT drive the truck until you change the oil pressure switch.

After you change the switch,you should spend sometime to inspect the wiring between the fuel pump relay,ECU and fuel pump.
