Question about 1998 Ford F150 Regular Cab
My truck makes a squeaking noise in reverse. While backing up I put the truck in neutral and the squeaking stops. Any solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sounds like a brake issue but paul is right it could also be the u-joints I suggest taking a look at the brakes first though also is the noise coming from the rear or front of the vehicle?

it is likely one of the pullies failing. the most likely one is the tensioner pulley. only way to fix that is to replace it. also examine the front of your water pump. if there is any fluid "weeping" from the casting hole(s) at the front that would likely be your culprit

Testimonial: "it was the water pump! I've asked sooooo many people and other mechanics and no one was able to figure it out. This answer worked!"
