Question about 2001 Buick Century
How do I remove the fuel sensor thing on the tank of the car that tells the gas pump to shut off? When ever I'm filling my car with gas the pump continuously shuts off. I can only get about 12 cents of gas in before the pump shuts off again. This takes a long time to fill the tank. It is like this at every gas pump I go to. I know there is something I can remove from the tank on the car but where is it and how do I do it?
The fuel pressure sensor tell the pcm if pressure inside tank can be achieve.if your problems is when you fill up the tank then could be a separator inside the tank or fill tube restriction
hope it helps

The sensor is located on top of the fuel pump. It should be black in color. You have an access plate in the trunk to get to the fuel pump without dropping the tank.

SOURCE: cant fill my tank, pump keeps
In modern vehicles there is a system in place to capture and burn the vapors when filling the fuel tank. This consists of a carbon canister, hoses and valves.
The vapors when filling the tank are routed through the carbon canister and stored there until the car is driven.
Under certain conditions these valves need to close to test the system integrity.
In your case there is a valve that has stuck closed and not allowing vapors to vent through.
This is called a canister vent valve and is located under the car on the carbon canister.
It should be available at your local Buick dealer.
