SOURCE: How to Change a Fuel Pump in a 2001 Ford Crown

STEPS TO CHANGE FUEL PUMP

  1. Park the vehicle in a safe place and make sure there is enough room around the back of the vehicle for you to work and move tools around.
  2. Start the engine and let it idle while you relieve the fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse or relay from the fuse box. Wait a few seconds for the engine to stall, turn the ignition key off and replace the relay or fuse.
  3. Raise the back of your car using a floor jack and support it safely on jack stands.
  4. Disconnect the fuel tank filler pipe and the fuel pump connector located above the cross member underneath the vehicle.
  5. Disconnect the vapor tube from the tee connector on the right side of the car-passenger side-and the vapor line from the canister tube.
  6. Support the fuel tank with a jack and remove the nuts from the holding strap using a wrench or ratchet and socket. Move the strap away and lower the fuel tank. Discard the fuel tank mounting studs.
  7. Unplug the pressure transducer electrical connector located on the top rear corner of the fuel tank.
  8. Clean the area around the fuel pump mounting flange and remove the flange mounting bolts in a crisscross pattern.
  9. Lift the fuel pump assembly off the tank. Replace the new fuel pump in the assembly and install the assembly in the tank. Install the flange screws and torque to 89 inch lbs. (10Nm) using a crisscross pattern.
  10. Raise the fuel tank to its mounting position, install the strap using new mounting studs and torque the nuts to 26 foot lbs. (35 Nm).
  11. Connect the fuel pressure transducer electrical connector, vapor tube to the tee connector, vapor line to the canister tube, fuel tank filler pipe and fuel pump electrical connector.
  12. Lower the vehicle, start the engine and check for leaks.

Check to see if you have spark.......also, check fuel pressure - you want to make sure your fuel pump is working.

Car wont start no fuel where is the fuel shutoff switch located on 1999 crown victoria police interceptor

It is located in the trunk, left hand side. There should be a small hole in carpet, look for a red button and push it. Hope this helps.

I have a 2000 crown victoria and whn i turn the key it does everything but fire it cranks but still wont start chnaged the starter, altanator, just not sure whats next

The next thing I would check is to make sure the fuel pump inertia switch isn't tripped. It's located in the trunk, on the side. You should see a little hole. Looking inside, you'll see a button that faces up. Push down on it. If it clicks down, chances are, you found your problem. This switch is used as a fuel pump cutoff in the event of a collision, so fuel doesn't feed a potential engine fire.

I hope this helps! :)

I have a 2001 crown victoria. and it wont start. i smell fuel what do that mean we think it might be the throttlebody. or the ejecters. clogged. what should i do.it trys to start. do the ecm or egr have...

the rule is checking for spark at the spark plugs, if you have spark then check for fuel pressure at the test port on the fuel rail.
since you smell gas, you need to check to see if there is any fuel leak.
if you don't have spark but you have fuel pressure then it's more likely the ignition module.
if you have spark but don't have gas then check the inertia switch and fuel pump. assuming that you already check your fuses.

Code PO401 is coming up on the computer and the car wont start. it also is reading 4 or 5 little sensors. It seems like its not getting any gas, but if you put carb cleaner in the port it will start up and...

It sounds like a weak fuel pump. Very common when you add fuel manualy that it gets the pump running because once the car starts you now have charging voltage of about 13.5v or more to the pump instead of 12v. Also make sure battery terminals are clean or a voltage drop could cause the pump not to prime. . The 401 code is a low flow egr code. It shouldnt have anything to do with the no start

Get the fuel pressure tested to confirm if cleaning the battery doesnt help.

I have a fuel system failue on a 2001 ford crown

I'm assuming you already checked for fuel pressure. If not this is your first step.

You need to find out if you have power at the fuel pump. If not you may of popped a fuse or relay . Then you need to find out if you have a ground when the key is cycled on. If you dont you may have a open wire to the computer or a bad computer. Most likely your problem is a bad fuel pump but its just a guess.
