Question about 2007 Dodge Nitro SLT

1 Answer

I have a 2007 dodge Nitro. I have told that my 6th cylinder is missing.. What does this mean and how do I fix it?

It runs really rough, and the check engine light is on.

I had started my truck and heard a loud pop sound. I just thought it was because it was really cold. While on my way to work the check engine light came on and I heard a loud clanking. Then it started shaking. Im not sure when its last tune up was done.

SOURCE: cylinder 1 misfire

If it smooths out at wide open throttle it's probably not the injector but rather a substantial vacuum leak at that cylinder.

SOURCE: Check engine light

A multi misfire may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
Faulty spark plug or wires, Faulty coil (pack), Faulty oxygen sensor(s), Faulty fuel injector(s), Stuck/blocked EGR valve / passages, Faulty camshaft position sensor, Defective computer.

The engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wire, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the the problems were faulty fuel injectors.

Random misfires that jump around from one cylinder to another (read: P030x codes) also will set a P0300 code. The underlying cause is often a lean fuel condition, which may be due to a vacuum leak in the intake manifold or unmetered air getting past the airflow sensor, or an EGR valve that is stuck open.

Good luck and hope this information helps, keep me posted, be glad to help you get the truck running 100% again. Not sure if your running a K&N air filter, and if you are there may be a flim of oil on the MAF sensor that is making you run lean. You may want to spray down the MAF sensor with a can of MAF cleaner.

What do U110E means in my 2007 dodge Nitro

U codes mean Can Bus Communication Errors
The 110 E code means lost ambient temperature I would
assume that's in reference to Your A/C unit which uses R-134
not freon so don't attempt to try and add to it, take it to Your Dodge
dealer and they can fix it & clear the code for You.
Happy Motoring.

2007 Nitro Misfire with no codes

Keep going back to the dealer. This is an emissions issue and is covered under warrenty. If anyone else works on this you could void your warrenty for this issue. I know its frustrating but the dealer is the only way to go. Maybe you need a differnt technician to work on it or even a differnt dealership...
But if it were my car I would fill it up with chevron 91 and add two bottles of techron cleaner. At 1/2 a tank fill it up again run the remaining fuel to low and then hope it cleared up.
If the injectors are spitting, BAD, instead of spraying ,GOOD. then you will have excess air from a misfire going over the 02 sensor. The computer will keep opening the injector ontime to maintain a 14.7 to 1 air fuel ratio. As soon as the injectors are at their max the car will buck like you running out of fuel.
This is about the only thing you can do at home.
You could try replacing the fuel pump relay and the ASD relay if you have them under the hood in the fuse box. There only about 15 to 20 bucks for the 2.
If you can feel the misfire and you see it happening on a scanner then look at the injector ontime. . This will give you an indication of the injectors being opened which would point to a fuel issue or vacuum leak
A vacuum leak could be the plenum gaskets are leaking

How many spark plugs does the Dodge Nitro 2007 need and how much do they run?

The Hemi V8 requires 16, it uses a dual plug system for emissions purposes. Other models require only 1 per cylinder.

How much they cost varies greatly from shop to shop, or brand to brand.
