Question about 1993 Chrysler Lebaron
'93 Lebaron.During a heavy rain got home windsheiled wipers would not stop, All speeds work fine. Next day I decided to disconnect battery which could do with new cable connectors. Got car to start but wipers still won't stop. Went 4 blcoks to daughters house turned off car but heard a clicking on passenger side that seemed to coincide with wiper blade swipe. Turned off car when I left 2hrs later battery was completely dead. Got a jump that took 10 minutes approx to take. Car shut off if foot is off the gas. Finally able to remove foot so I let it idle for approx 10-15 mins. wiper still not stopped. Drove around the corner car shut down, no power steering, no power brakes. Charge still held because it started right up when I turned the ignition. Made it home by keeping my foot on the gas. Second my foot is off the gas it turns off. I diconnected the battery cable so not to drain. Any suggestions ? 78k , no problems like this after I got new battery and alternator Feb 2013.
The wiper motor is defective and needs to be replaced. Inside the wiper motor is a "Park Switch". When you turn the wipers off, the park switch sends a signal to shut the wipers off. If the park switch fails to operate then the wipers will continue to run, unless the ignition key is turned off. You will also need to inspect and test the charging system. Where you had no issue before the rain, you may only need to charge the battery. After the battery is charged it should be load tested, to be sure that it is fine. Also test the alternator and make sure that it is charging correctly (@14volts). If you need more information please write back. Good luck.

the most common cause of this by far is lights left on by defective switchs, these include the map lights in the visors, the glove box light due to a defective switch, the trunk light and the hood light if equipped, check it at night and look for a faint glow, the other much less common cause is the alternator has a defective diode and allows a small current to pass to ground drawing the battery down..

on the wiper arm at the bottom is a plastic cap. remove it and underneath is a 13 or 15 mm nut line the wiper back up and tighten the nut. the wiper should work.

It sounds like a sensor is intermittantly loosing the data stream. Since the engine light came on, I would go to a reputable shop and have them check for codes. Many auto parts stores will do this as well and sometimes for free. Can't beet free. If I were to guess I would say something like the camshaft postion sensor is going bad, Or the crankshaft postion sensor, Or something like that. The code will tell which one it is.
Good luck, and if you have any further questions please....ask!
