Question about 2002 Buick Century
The driver seat goes up and down fine but when I try to move it forward or back only one side moves. The other side stays in place. What can I do?
Look under the seat for anything that may be jamming the seat track.

Hi, I have a1983 Riviera that just had the same problem. Try taking the switch out of the driver door armrest and switching it with the passenger side switch. If the seat then works, it isn't the motor, it is the switch. You can then use that switch to position your seat until you can get your driver seat switch repaired or replaced. The switches are actually quite easy to take out. Pull the entire switch assembly out of the armrest. The switch is held in by two small screws. Then you have to unscrew a blue cap that is holding the wiring harness onto the switch. Pry up on the wiring harness until it comes off of the switch. The passenger side switch comes out the same way and will easily press onto the driver side harness, but everything will work backwards. I hope this helps. I actually pulled my bad switch apart and tried to clean it, and when I put it back together again it worked! I hope this helps you.

the linkage might have popped off the tranny must of those are on a ball socket, if you open the hood and find the cable that goes to the transmission. and you will most likly find that it popped off. if you have someone in the car when you are ready to pop it back on have them move the shifter until in the right spot and then push it back on. if it keeps poping off you will have to replace the cable.
