Sounds like the car is trying to tell you that the component is bad. Resetting the code does not fix the problem.

I have a 2001 Olds Alero that the check engine light came on. I was told to replace the gas cap and drive 50-75 miles to reset the computer module. I ended up having to drive 340 miles and the light is...

call your local auto parts store(autozone). They may check your computer codes for free. This will narrow down your problem(s). report back here with your findings.

2007 Dodge Caliber check engine light stays on......was very low on oil but replenished more then 50 miles ago. no problem with engine how to turn off?

Most times, once your car posts a trouble code you need a OBD-II code reader to pull the code and reset the check engine light. You can get one pretty cheaply from your neighborhood auto parts store. However, some parts stores have one available that they will let you borrow for a small fee or even for free. It connects to a diagnostic port just under the driver's side dash. Dealers and repair shops will typically charge you $50-75 to read the code and reset the light.

I installed new o2 senser and the light stays on -1992 trooper

Do you mean that the check engine light stays on after you installed a new O2 sensor?

Check for codes, again, and go from there.

How do i turn my check engine light off. It stays

Try disconnecting th ebattery for three minutes and reconnecting it. The light should be off. If there is a problem it will come back on within 50-75 miles. If the battery trick doesn't work go to a repair shop and have them reset the light with the machine.

My emission light stays on all the time

This happens because there is a hard code stored in you computer in other words there is a problem like a bad 02 sensor or something like that. I recommend you take this car to an Auto Zone because they will check and tell you the codes for FREE. Or you can take to any auto place than can check codes. Then you can make the proper repairs and that WILL KEEP LIGHT OFF. If you reset with out making proper repairs it will only stay off temporarily and come back on like its been doing when you took off battery lead. Contact if you need more help. Good Luck

O2 sensor

There should be a reset switch that turns the light off. Some vehicles require a code scanner tool to reset the check engine light. On some Isuzu models you have to remove the instrument cluster and move a screw from one hole marked KSW to another hole with the same KSW marking (it may have tape over the second screw hole). Other Isuzu models may have a small switch on teh back of the instrument cluster or may have a different marking on the screw holes (some were marked wit the letter B on both holes). The O2 light usually comes on at 90,000 mile increments which is when Isuzu recommends changing it.
