Searching why, (buy an FSM and no more guessing...? )
basic service?
low fuel pressure? why?

ive got near a 1/2 million + miles on jeeps since 1988.
never stranded, but i do my service,.
my last chick-o-dee. was 99. with 5sp, all with that.
my 08 JK same.
the fuel filters on old loop systems is in the front of the tank
then later, , EPA forced most parts into tank with the new loop
or dead head systems. (EPA wants fuel cold .so, that is it)
i dont find parts hard to find, jeeps excel at that. vast resources.
nor hard electrical if you had a 2007+ then that be different.

id just crawl under car and gander, at fuel line but here we go
ill do it , online for you.
4Liter 98
options , with the 20gallon tank there is filter. on top of pump , in tank.
that means to me there are different filters there. by size tank .
if you dont see a filter, that means its in the tank.

he fuel filter is an integral component of the fuel pressure regulator, which is mounted on top of the fuel pump module, located in the fuel tank. When the fuel filter/regulator assembly requires service, the fuel tank must be removed from the vehicle, however, the fuel pump module does not need to be removed.

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Section 5 for the proper procedure.
  3. Remove the fuel tank assembly.
  4. Clean the area around the fuel filter/regulator.
  5. Disengage the retaining clamp from the top of the filter/regulator assembly. Discard the retaining clamp.
  6. Using 2 small prying tools, pry the filter/regulator assembly out from the top of the fuel pump module. The filter/regulator assembly will unsnap from the fuel pump module.
  7. Remove and discard the mounting gasket below the filter/regulator.
  8. Before discarding the fuel filter/pressure regulator assembly, inspect the assembly to verify that the O-rings are intact. If the smallest of the 2 O-rings cannot be found on the bottom of the filter/regulator, it may be necessary to remove it from the fuel inlet passage in the fuel pump module.
  9. Clean the recessed area in the pump module where the filter/regulator assembly is to be installed.
  10. Check the replacement filter/regulator assembly to make sure that the new O-rings are already installed on the assembly.
  11. Apply a small amount of clean engine oil to the O-rings.
  12. Install a new gasket on top of the fuel pump module.
  13. Press the new fuel filter/pressure regulator assembly into the top of the fuel pump module until it snaps into position (a positive click must be heard or felt).
  14. The arrow on top of the fuel pump module should be pointed towards the front of the vehicle (12 O'clock position).
  15. Turn the filter/regulator assembly until the supply tube (fitting) is pointed to the 11 O'clock position.
  16. Install new retainer clamp (the clamp snaps over the top of the filter/regulator and locks to the flanges on the pump module).
  17. Install the fuel tank assembly.
  18. Connect the negative battery cable.
  19. end

how is that ?

Crankshaft sensor located 98 jeep grnd cher 4wd 6cy

it is located at the back of the engine on top of the transmission bell housing, the plug runs over to the passenger side of the engine bay and it comes out from behind the engine, you can actually get your hand on the sensor itself from under the hood on the drivers side, and i believe its a 13mm bolt holding it in,the new sensor will have a sticker on the end of it...leave it there,it is used for correct spacing between the sensor and the flywheel, hope this helps
