Have you checked the transmission fluid level? Sometimes when they are low on fluid they will make a whining noise. Also, are you sure that it is the transmission? Could it be the power steering pump? Fords are notorious for having noisy power steering pumps, at least on older vehicles.

Transmission might be fried. One suggestion, did you try putting it in 4WD and trying that? I had a Jeep come in, same thing, wont move, ended up being a blown transfer case. Put it in 4 hi or low, and see if it will go into gear and move. Long shot, but worth a try.

Transmission disengaging from motor (I think?)

from what you described, this sounds like the gears in the transmission box are slipping. I'm assuming this car has an automatic transmission. Most automatic transmissions have belts driving the gears in the transmission, so my suspicion is that one or more of the belts could be wearing off and causing this problem. Have the transmission box checked. Was the transmission replaced with a new or rebuilt one?

Coming to stop sign by putting break gear slips then return to park move to drive runs. second as i drive in curves slips but as give gas enough continues running.

Just to make sure I got this right. If you come to a stop, the car won't pull again unless you put it in park? Then, if you start into a curve, the transmission starts to slip unless you give it more gas? This could be signs of a bad torque converter, failing fluid pump (not as likely), or burnt/low transmission fluid level. Check the transmission fluid after the vehicle has been driven (warm engine), leave it running, and on a level surface. Check the level twice and take the lowest reading.

Hesitates start an when i stop it cuts off

you should not have to work the gas pedal to start this car. It has an electric fuel pump. When you turn the key on to start it can you hear a "whirring" sound coming from the back of the car? Get your fuel pump checked.

My transmission is going i need a rough estimate on getting it replaced/ 2004 saturn ion. every time i come to a stop while in drive it starts to shudder then i give it gas and it jumps makes a loud sound...

I looked around for a while, and can only give a range since I do not know what size motor you have.

If you want to get a used transmission, it's between $200-$1,000.

If you want to get a new transmission, it's going to cost anywhere from $2,500 to $4,000.

2001 buick lesabre. will not go into overdrive. sounded like

I have the same exact issue. In when shifter is in overdrive position it makes a whirring noise that sounds like a bad auto transmission. Also the Gas mileage at 65 has dropped about 6 MPG. I found yesterday that if i put the shifter in 3 instead of OD it doesn't make the noise. I am guessing that i will need to enlist a transmission specialist to fix the overdrive thing but in the meantime it doesn't sound like it is causing an issue in 3 and the gas mileage is improved...

It sounds like you have lost first gear in your transmission. I have a 93 Grand Cherokee and recently suffered the same problem. The problem is most likely in the transmission valve body. You should stop driving the vehicle immediately to prevent doing more damage to the rest of the transmission. Sounds like you will most likely need a rebuild
