Hi what to do when tke ABS ligt is on all the time ? BUT nothing wrong With the brakes !!

With The ABS light on the system is disabled (not working ) This doesn't affect the base brakes . There are DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored in the ABS electronic control module . You would need to have the ABS system checked for codes ,then diagnosed for that code . Could be a wheel speed sensor or the wiring or a module .

Brake warning lights

Many repair shops can read the ABS codes also - especially shops that specialize in tires and brakes.

The codes will likely identify if a specific wheel sensor is mis-behaving / failing, or a worst-case situation: the ABS Control Module is failing (expensive).

The sensors, located behind each wheel, can be checked for accumulated road 'gunk' and cleaned. Also look for any frayed/broken sensor wires.

NOTE: The sensor sit about .25" away from a gear-type ring on the backside of the wheel - the 'exciter ring'. It's the teeth passing in front of the sensor that creates the signal sent to the ABS control module.
NOTE: The ABS Control Module reads the speed of each wheel and 'pulses' the level of braking to each wheel according to if it thinks it is skidding on ice/wet surfaces.
Problem with the Anti-Lock Brake System. Take it to a professional and I believe it means the Antilock Brake System is disengaged. Means a code has been stored in the abs computer. Standard obd tester cannot check these codes. Take to dealer service shop.

1) try to use the self diagnose.
2) place ignition swtuch in the start position, the lights coming on
3) engine starts, the brake light sould turn off inmediately. the ABS ligth will illuminate for aprox 6 seconds.
4) test drive the vehicle at speed above 20mph for a few minutes. during the test the both test lights should remain off, if any one of the warninign light utron, take note of the condition.
5) stop the vechicle using the braking pressure.both light should remain offf during the stopping procedure.

Two ligts panel instrument red BRAKE ligt and amber ABS

On some cars, this combination indicates a failure of the ABS control module. I don't know for certain if Pontiac set their cars up the same way, or if you have two problems with the car - possibly a blown brake light bulb or low brake fluid (for the BRAKE light) and a wheel speed sensor problem (for the ABS light). You can check the bulbs and fluid level to see if they are off, but if not, it may well be the ABS controller. If that's the case, you could either buy a new one for probably a lot of money, or check out for having yours rebuilt (usually $150-200, significantly less than buying a new one).
