YOU NEED TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY FOR 5-10 MINUTES FOR FAULTS TO CLEAR COMPLETELY..HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM BEFORE AFTER REPLACING AN EGR VALVE..IT WAS A TECH TIP FROM CHRYSLER ENGINEERING..THE EGR VALVE WAS THE PROBLEM,BUT THE PCM WOULD NOT LET THE CODES GO EVEN AFTER CLEARING THEM WITH SCAN TOOL..ALSO CHECK CONNECTIONS AT EGR CONNECTOR FOR SPREAD PINS

SOURCE: Need to replace EGR valve

The exhaust gas recirculation valve is located on the intake manifold on my Isuzu. All it does is make the exhaust coming out of the tailpipe less poisonous. I'm ironiclly going to replace mine tomorrow. There should be a wiring connecter that you dissconnect and a large outgoing pipe that you need to unthread and remove. All that is holding on your EGR valve are two bolts. Remove those and the gasket and good riddance! Scrape the intake manifold with a razor blade, gently to remove the gasket completely and thread on the gasket to the new valve. Then just rebolt everything and plug in the electrical connection and start the engine. It should sound good.

The valve passage maybe clogged. You can take the valve off and clean it out (kerosene and a brush/rag and that MAY help. You should be able to get the EGR at Auto Zone or NAPA-but it will most likely be costly.

Heat up the exhaust pipe to egr with torch and spray with knockitloose or wd40 when not hot. Then remove that pipe. Then remove vacuum hose and the 2 bolts that hold it on.

2005 magnum p0406 egr valve sensor code error

P0406 indicates high voltage on the EGR sensor circuit. this is recommended for every 30,000 miles be inspected. although EGR system do not requires periodic inspection. instead, check only if engine trouble's develop. most EGR's requires replacing EGR valve, cleaning passages and installing new vacuum hose. misrouted vacuum hose causes engine poor operation. so. not just to unplug it.

Erg flow insufficient

  • The DPFE (differential pressure feedback EGR) sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced
  • There is a blockage in the EGR (tube), most likely carbon buildup
  • The EGR valve is faulty
  • The EGR valve may not be opening due to a lack of vaccuum
It is quite common for people to just replace the EGR valve only to have the OBD code return. The EGR valve is not always the culprit.
  • Use a vacuum pump and pull the EGR valve open while monitoring engine RPM's & DPFE voltage. There should be a noticable difference in RPM's with the EGR open
  • Clean out the EGR valve and/or tubing to remove deposits
  • Check the voltage at the DPFE, compare to specified values (refer to a repair manual for your specific model)
  • Replace the DPFE sensor (with a good quality / OEM one)
  • Replace the EGR valve
The EGR valve is located in the engine compartment. Its should look this

How much should it cost to replace a bad egr valve for a 2005 chrysler 300c

An EGR valve is simple enough to replace. The part alone costs roughly $90.
It is located at the back of the engine.
If you take a look, there will be a Iron rod going from the back of your intake manifold ... downwards ... its going to the EGR Valve.

Cheers,

Van is stalling

Make sure there are no kinks in your egr valve line. Make sure it's not clogged. Probably just need to replace egr valve. To make the car stall, it is probably recirculating too much exhaust gas back into the engine, which may mean that it's stuck open.
