Question about 1992 Holden Barina

Coolant leak barina xc

Barina XC 2001. Coolant leaks after car stops. No apparent leak while driving. No sign of leaks from hoses, no hissing or steam visible, just quite leaking from tray under radiator which stops after a couple of minutes. Is there a pressure relief valve in the radiator? Could it be faulty or do I just have a leak that occurs under pressure after coolant stops circulating when engine is stopped? Overflow tank is almost empty and this still occurs.

SOURCE: 2001 xc Barnia when gets to 92degrees to stops then able to restart when it cools below 90degrees

Hello
The Engine and Automatic Transmission (not applicable to manual transmissions) in this vehicles drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM and TCM (Power Train Control Module, Transmission Control Module). When a problem like this or other drive-ability related problems occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. Also always check fuel pressure for correct spec for your make and engine type.

Need to know where motor resistors is located on 2003 Holden barina xc Apparently when fan only works on high this is the issue? Can anyone help ? Thanks

Its been a while since i have done one of these. It should be located by the fan either at front or top of heater box. You may have to remove glove box for access, possibly glove box surround too.

Tip

Vehicle overheating tips

If your vehicle engine coolant temperature gauge indicates overheating, if you experience a loss of power,or if you hear a loud knocking or pinging noise, the engine has probably overheated. You should follow this procedure............

Pull safe off the road, stop the vehicle and turn on our emergency flasher. Put the transmission in "P" (automatic) or neutral (manual) and apply the parking brake. Turn off the air conditioning if it is being used.

If coolant or steam is boiling out of the radiator or reservoir, stop the engine. Wait until the steam subsides before opening the hood. If there is no coolant boiling over the steam, leave the engine running. CAUTION: To avoid personal injury, keep the hood closed until there is not steam. Escaping steam or coolant is a sign of very hing pressure.

Visually check to see if the engine drive belt (fan belt) is broken or loose. Lock for obvious coolant leaks from the radiator, hoses, and under the vehicle. However, note that water draining from the air conditioning is normal if it has been used. CAUTION: When the engine is running, keep hands and clothing away from the moving fan engine drive belt.

If the engine drive belt is broken or the coolant is leaking, stop the engine immediately and call your mechanic of assistance.

If the engine drive belt is okay and there are no obvious leaks, you may help the engine cool down more quickly by running it at about 1500 rpm for a few minutes with the accelerator pedal lightly depressed.

Check the coolant reservoir. If it is dry, add coolant to the reservoir while the engine is running. Fill it about half full. CAUTION:Do not attempt to remove the radiator cap when the radiator are hot. Serious injury could result from scalding hot fluid and steam blown out under pressure.

After the engine coolant temperature has cooled to normal, again check the coolant level in the reservoir. If necessary, bring it up to half full again. Serious coolant loos indicates a leak in the system. You should have it checked as soon as possible at your mechanic's workshop.

Good luck.

Where is the bleeder located on my xc 2001 barina please, this model has bottle and no cap

Few radiators are fitted with a bleeder these days (or those days). Cylinder pressures have escalated and gasket technology hasn't kept pace and so some combustion gas will inevitably find it's way into the cooling system where, if it allowed to accumulate it will displace coolant and interfere with the thermostat operation and generally be a nuisance.

It is for this reason the coolant reservoir, with few exceptions, is now referred to as a degassing tank and there is usually one or two small diameter hoses connected to the top of this bottle which is generally fitted a little higher than the radiator. It is common for one hose to circulate a small amount of coolant from the cylinder head and for another to vent the top of the radiator.

In the case of a dirty cooling system it isn't unheard of for the cylinder head vent to become blocked and it is worth checking...

Engine light on 04 holden barina cd xc my04 came on when air con stopped working would it be just because air conditioning needz regassing

most likely that the alternator drive belt broke for the ac to stop working
if it needs gas then you have a leak that has to be fixed first

I have a 2001 chevy blazer 4wd when driving my vehicle I start to smell as if my car is starting to overheat my gages are showing normal and there are no visible signs of overheating my windshield and

If you smell steam/water/antifreeze inside the vehicle, then most likely you have a heater core issue. If it is more 'overheating' smell outside of the vehicle, it could be overflow container leaking on hot parts, leaking hose, radiator leak, etc.

check that when you turn on the heater control that it is actually turning on the hot water tap. They are mostly vacuum operated and the little hoses break or rot or become pinched.
