Question about 1996 Dodge Caravan

1 Answer

The rear wheel on my 1996 plymouth voyager will not come off. The parking brakes are off. I tried pulling it off with a wheel puller. The top of the drum is releasing fine, but the bottom of the hub is being held by something. Both left and right rear wheels are getting the same results. I even unhooked the parking brake cable to give it maximun slack. Has anyone got a possible solution. Thanks

There are cut outs on the back of the drums were you can adjust the star adjuster with a brake spoon or straight blade screwdriver. Sounds like you adjusters are out forcing the drums to get hung up.

FROZEN HUB PLYMOUTH GRAND VOYAGER fwd

it happens to a lot of us, you need to back off self-adjuster as much as possible, also, make sure the parking brake is not frozen @ the wheel, they all do @ the rear wheels, get a hammer and try to bang around the inside side of the hub rim, don't be gentle, HIT THE DAM THING ! have patience, it will come, use a good flat screwdriver to help pry it off , If I was you , have new brakes, hardware(springs, etc.,) and new parking brake cable for rear wheels, $20 a pc., you will need them.

How fix hand brake in voyager ?

I assume your referring to rusted parking brake
cables under the vehicle

Have to get under there & make sure they can be
pulled tight by hand at each rear drum brake & when you let
go they pull back into the drum & rear wheels turn
freely

Then you work on the cables & any rust you have to remove,
so they can be adjusted

96 plymouth grand voyager is stuck on park what does that mean?

Your problem might be with the brake light switch. This switch is under the brake pedal, and when the pedal is pressed, it lets you shift your van out of park. This switch also activates the brake lights when you press the brake pedal. Try checking if your brake lights work. These switches are inexpensive, and very easy to replace.

Can't find the brake shoe adjustment on my '99 plymouth voyager

there are 2 or 3 plugs a side on the vehicle. the adjusted can be seen through the top center one not ether of he side one(s). it is above the bolts that hold the hub to the axle, and just below the wheel cylinder fitting/bleed screw.
