If it skips a tooth or 2...yeah it will damage the engine.

SOURCE: on a 1991 nissan pickup 4 cyl. where is the pcv

The PCV valve connects the crankcase to the intake manifold from a location more-or-less opposite the breather connection. Translation - The PCV valve on your engine is threaded into the intake manifold.

Sorry I can't find a picture to show you.

How to tell if a 1997 nissan altima bent cylinder valves before replacing timming chain or belt

Remove cams, install air hose adapter into each cylinder one at a time and use compressed air to test cylinder. Bent valve or holes in pistons will be very obvious.

If the timing chain on my 2007 4 cyl nissan altima goes out will it damage the engine

Thomas is right. Due to the expense of repairing the engine, it is usually cheaper to locate a low mileage engine from a salvage yard and have it installed.

Bent valves

The 4 cyl and V6 engines both use a chain. They should not be interference engines.

Where are the timming mark for 1993 nissan quest

ignition timing is normaly on the harmonic balencer (the pully on the crank that drives fan belt).if not it will be on the fly wheel and there will be a small inspection plate and pointer.if your looking for vaulve timing / cam timing remove timing cover on the front of engine block (dont mess with this unless you know what your doing)..if your engine is belt or chain driven over head cam never ever turn engine backwards or the timing belt/chain can slip/jump and then the vaulves can hit the pistons upon starting ruening the engine

How can i tell if a timing chain broke on a 2006 dodge stratus 4 cyl

If you have a 4 Cylinders, Then you have a timing belt not a chain. And when the timing belt breaks the car will not run at all and if it was running, Then the car will stall and the engine will be damaged due to the pistons hitting the valves and bend them. So you may want to check it and maybe change it if the car is around 60.000 miles before its too late. Good luck

Nissan maxima 1991 ve30 timing chain diagramme

That is a V6 engine. It has a timing belt and not a chain. Here is a picture that I hope helps.

Be careful because the pistons will hit the valves if the timing isn't set right.

I changed piston rings on my GA15 and got the valves set on the cyl head but now the motor won't start. The timing is fine Help!

Need to check these things first
Has it got fuel?.......................Is there fuel in the carby bowl? Has it gt a spark?...................Does the spark occur when the piston is near TDC? Has it got air?........................Check compressions
Did you remove the timing chain / if so I suspect you have incorrect valve timing.....easily checked by turning engine by hand till the piston approaches TDC then the rotor arm must be opp that spark plug lead. As the piston comes up to TDC the air should be rushing out of the cylinder.

1997 nissan pickup 4wd, just had timing chain replaced , now have noticeable knocking noise coming from valve cover ? mechanic says need new stack shims on valve rockers ?

Not likely. You have a 4 cyl engine with over head cam. It has hydrolic lifters. If it wasn't making the noise before he replaced the chain, then its something he did...or didn't do. If it was making the noise before, most common reason would be 1 or more lifters not pumping up. If you have a six cyl, no one changed the timing chain, (It doesn't have one!) The 3.0 6cyl has a belt.
