A good starting place is to discinnect and plug the vacuum advance and time it at 6 degrees advanced. If you hear spark knock, retard it a little. Some of these engines had the crank mark slip and cause false readings. You can always use a vacuum gauge or advance the timing till it knocks and back off till it doesn\'t knock.

When i try to start my truck the carburetor flames up i think it has to do with the vacum but not sure please help

This sounds like your timing is off. Is this a 302 V-8? Check your manual for the correct firing order as not all 302 had the same order. If your timing is correct, and this just all of a sudden happened, you may be looking at replacing the timing chain.

I have a 1965 food falcon with a mustang 302 (1978 ) v8. how do i know if it is a windsor or not?

Well there is a 302 cleveland, they are mainly an Australian engine. Identifying one is much like telling the difference between a 351 windsor and a 351 cleveland. Based on the fact that it's from Ford's 335 engine family. 8 cap screws to hold on the valve covers, the block is longer do to the timing chain housing being integrated. The fuel pump bolts are mounted vertically, and the exhaust bolt holes are diagonal. Also, a big difference between an american 302 and an aussie 302 cleveland, is the connecting rods for the cleveland are 6.000''. Where the american 302 connecting rod length is 5.090". Also, referring to a 302 as a windsor is incorrect, it's block families name is the 90 degree v8. The only engine in that family that is properly named the windsor, is the 351 windsor. The 90 degree family also includes the 302 boss. The boss has cleveland style heads, and the block has screw in freeze plugs.

302 v8 on a 76 ford bronco just rebuilt has

sounds like your timing is way off,if no timing gun and you dont have specs, loosen your distributer a bit and rev your engine to about3000 rpm and just listen to the engine while you slightly turn the distibuter until it is the smoothest sounding with no sputtering then tighten your distributer back up or pay the bucks get it timed at a shop its cheap
