Question about 2000 GMC Jimmy

Alarm Randomly Goes Off

My car alarm will randomly start going off. Took the car to AutoZone to have diagnostic run for that and a couple other issues and their device could not even detect my car. Can I pull the alarm's fuse out to disable it until i get it fixed, or is there something better

    Factory I believe

It should be the door switch that is causing this, had the same problem. It senses that the key or remote were used to open the door. It is on the latch I believe. Keep in mind that all doors have these switches and any on can cause the false alarm.

The pin that sticks out that detects if the door is open/closed? I have tested them and wiped them off and they all seem to be in working order.

I have replaced at least a 100 of these door sensors and with few exceptions they tested good using a DVOM ohm meter. So my point is this, temperature is causing the switch to break connection and triggering the security system. It has to be one or more of the switches or the wiring to them.

There is no disabling fuse. If that was the case the car would fall prey to thieves very fast.

When you say it goes off, you mean I surmise that the headlights flash and horns sound?

    Correct?

There may be more than one door switch, one is the so called door ajar switch the other the theft lock switch, you may just have the one, earlier models like my Corvette had two. Check with your GM parts person to find out if you have 2 sensors in the door.

If lifting the passenger handle activates the dome lights, your latches have the switch in them

SOURCE: 99 GMC sonoma will start with starting fluid then

The 99 GMC, when it acts up, check whether it has fuel and/or spark. It could be related to fuel pressure, available electrical power, ignition component/s.

SOURCE: my security alarm goes off intermittingly without

When I bought my 2001 Jimmy, it did the same thing. Searched the "net" and found the solution. Open all the doors and clean the light switch buttons. Sometimes they get dirt in them. This worked for me. I've never had this problem again.

2006 jetta alarm randomly arms

its the battery in the alarm it has an alarm backup battery built in to the alarm when it fails it sets off the alarm, its in the siren part unit. its not usually replaceable but you can break it open and replace the battery or disconnect the unit, but the alarm will not go off, and it does not have a back up alarm horn.

Explorer alarm goes off randomly

There can be many things causing this. In my experience a bad battery can short while the vehicle is parked. Its easy to have tested and Autozone or Oreillys will test your whole vehicle free.

Next possibility would be dirty Battery cables or loose battery connections to the Ground wire. Of course, some vehicles have additional triggers for Glass breakage and motion. Sometimes on cars with Autoload leveling, the Air pump will work to level the car and the Alarm will sense the current draw and vibration and go off.

These Alarms are not foolproof. You have a "Panic" button on your remote. If another person has a device casting this signal your Alarm will pick it up and activate. Your Dealer may have testing equipment for your system to correct the sensitivity of the unit. I hope it is simply a bad battery and your problem will go away with a new one.

My car alarm randomly goes off on my 06 Charger.

I had an issue with an Aveo that would do the same thing... what I did to correct that problem was to diagnose all the alarm switch's.

I took all door switch off inspected them they looked fine I then check the hood switch and when I took it off I noticed it was corroded inside since I changed it the alarm never came on again.

I would check your hood switch it maybe the same.

Good luck

ALARM RANDOMLY GOES OFF!!

the factory fit alarm is not voltage sensing .The best advice is to go to VW garage and get them to read the alarm causes,(they can check the last 4).this will give you a good idea where the fault lies.ie door lock mechanism, interior monitor etc..You cannot start looking for problem until you know alarm cause..

My problem is i just recently bought this 1990 Lexus LS400 and everything works fine but randomly the alarm will start going off when i open the truck or doors then i put the key in the ignition and it...

My 1991 Lexus LS 400 does something similar. When the alarm goes off I use the key to unlock the passenger side front door and it turns the alarm off. Go figure, I know it sounds funny but it solves the problem for me.
