Fuel pressure regulator? I went to my favourite Dord dealership and within the hour it was successfully dealt with. After the Escape had about 250,000km on it, I located a 2006 Nissan X-Trail with 88,000km. I thanked the teacher for "breaking in the car". It drives like new. And the engineer/mechanic reviews out shone the Escape reviews , especially 2013-2014. We miss the Escape, perhaps in 4-5 years I will return to Escape ownership. The car must have relatively low kilometres on it. 75,000 km or less.

There is a whining as i accelerate. I took it to the garage who told me it would cost $300 to replace it. I found the part for under $100 and I'm trying to save the money on labor.

How do you know the fuel pressure regulator failed?

What test told you so?

I called a lincoln dealer, by me, for someone on fixya a
couple years ago & the parts dept told me, they only gave
out 3 in six years,so that is not a high failure item.

Only a couple screws to remove ,I believe
Could be screwed into the end of the fuel rail
Look at it & you know

SOURCE: 2005 ford escape assembly diagram for the front axle

If they are sealed bearings, you will need a press to get them out. If they are bolt in, just remove the brake pads/rotors, then the axle nut, then the bolts holding the wheel bearing in. Install in reverse order.

How to diagnose afaulty pressure regulator on the fuel rail of a 2005 ford escape

Check the pressure with a fuel pressure gauge connected to the test port on the regulator or on the fuel rail itself. There should be at least 30 psi on the rail with the engine running and the same without the engine running. If the pressure bleeds off when the engine is not running, the check valve in the regulator is leaking down which will make a first start in the morning difficult.

I have a 2005 Ford Escape that gave a P0193 code, the car seems to not go when you put the pedal to the floor. Only has about 75000 miles

  • P0193 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input. This can be fixed by replacing the sensor. More than likely it has gone bad for some reason (it's hard to tell exactly what caused it).

  • Have a good one!

Hello, I have A 2005 Ford Escape that threw a code P0193. Wondering What would be the most likely problem. has 119000 miles. thanks

Two common things can cause this code. High fuel pressure or a bad fuel pressure sensor. The easiest thing you can do is replace the sensor. It is located on the fuel rail on the passenger side of the engine. It will have a vacuum hose and a connector plugged into it. The part is available from the dealer for about a $100. A basic set of tools and about 1/2 hour are all that is needed to replace.

The fuel line will be under pressure so be aware that fuel will spray all over the place when you remove the sensor. There should be a test port near the sensor with a black plastic cap. If you remove the cap you will be able to push in the schrader valve and release the pressure. Again watch yourself and have some rags handy to catch the fuel spray that comes out of the test port.

    I have p0158,p0171,p0175,p1336,p2198,p2273-02,p0403 all showing

Sounds like the fuel pump pressure may be set too low. When you have the throttle open the TPS (throttle position sensor) sets the spark and fuel for a given demand.

When the demand is greater than the amount of pressure you have, the pressure drops and the engine is gas starved. The fuel pressure regulator is not responding fast enough but it is limited by the pressure your pump is making.

You need to get the fuel pressure checked. If the pressure is okay then the regulator is sluggish.

Check to see if you have spark and fuel pressure. I would say to have it properly diagnosed at a shop because without the pressure tester and a diagnostic device if it isn't with the spark delivery or fuel supply then you could be spending a lot of time searching.
