SOURCE: 1989 cadillac seville!!! cooling fan fault ???

I have one of these cars that had that problem. I fixed mine with a new fan control module. The fan wires can be hooked up backwards to the module when you replace it too. I have a service manual on this car and can answer most questions as I have helped a lot of people with this year model. I will look at which fan should be pluged into where later. You should never straight wire a cooling fan as this will result in other problems because the engine will not come up to normal temperature resulting in poor fuel mileage. This could result in a exhaust converter and o2 sensor failure due to a rich fuel mixture. Reply and I will get back to you asap.

2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport Alternator is fine and starter is too. New battery. Former owner started having problems after putting in a new radio. What could make my battery not stag charged

Apparently there is a "dead short" that is draining the battery. If a power wire or connection (plus side) is in contact with a ground wire or source this will create a short that drains the battery. When the battery is charged feel the wires and all connections to the radio and you may feel heat from the bad connection. Best bet is disconnect the entire set up and start over. It is best if the wires stay color coded (if you replace any). This dead short could cause a fire or damage any other wiring it is connected to. If the prior owner ran a new wire from the battery make sure those connections are tight and not rubbing any bare wires that could touch a ground source. (Most metal parts in vehicles are connected to the ground side of the battery. Also check your speaker connections from the unit to each speaker. Those wires can not touch each other or any metal. I hope this helps.

My altnator shorted out apower lost inside cab

Disconnect alternator and replace blown power fuse and see if it is the actual alternator short or harness related. Always check your ground wire for corroision. Ground wires cause resistance problems and cause premature failures of electrical components.

Horn and cruise contol

Sounds like your steering column wiring harness has come disconnected. Check the condition of the connector, which will be located between the brake light switch and the instrument cluster, plugging into your steering column. Also, check the ground connection at the steering column (single black wire).

No electrical power at all checked grounds, fuses, relay, etc 1989 none turbo supra with sport package

Check for a grounded positive wire from the battery or alternator. This could be in a wiring harness or actually in the Alternator or Starter. First disconnect the Alternator and see if you get power from the battery, if no reconnect the alternator and disconnect the starter and see if that allows you to get power from the battery, if no you have a grounded positive wire that is causing a short.

No power to electric windows and no power to the radio at the same time

It sounds like you blew a fuse(s) or have a short somewhere. Check your fuse box and replace as needed. Test your windows and radio. If problem still persists, check for other electrical problems. Wire insulation could be worn and grounding, inspect wires as you are able to. Beyond this, you might need to seek a mechanic who specializes in electrical problems. Hopefully, this will help to FixYa problem!

Ground wiring

you have many grounded devices in your engine. the main ones are probably the battery ground and the alternator ground. Look at your battery, there is a Positive side (Red/Power) and there is a Negative side(Black/Ground). There is a short wire that runs from the Neg side to the wall of your engine area, it has a ring connected to a bolt. thats the ground wire. there is a similar wire on the neg side of your alternator which should be easy to find if you know what to look for.

Wont hold charge in expedition

  1. Check the wiring of the new radio installed as follows..
  2. Disconnect battery ground
  3. verify radio ground wire is grounded to metal
  4. verify radio hot wire (normally red and thick) is connected to a power source that is off when the ignition key is in the "off" position.
  5. verify that the always hot wire is connect to a constant 12v power supply even with the ignition off.
  6. make sure the pwr antenna wire if not used is taped at the tip and not touching any metal.
  7. verify that all speaker wires are connect correctly and not shorted to ground.
  8. connect battery ground you may get a small spark if your courtesy lites work.
  9. start engine verify your battery is charging by disconnecting the battery ground cable while the engine is running, it should continue running if it don't, alternator maybe bad.
  10. If it continues running problem solved..

1999 windstar- non functional windows, cruise, radio

Looking at a wiring diagram ,the BCM has nothing to do with the cruise control . This vehicle has two different body control modules ,the (FEM) front electronic module an the (REM) rear electronic module . The power door locks are controlled by these two modules . The door lock switches are inputs to the (FEM) . The driver door lock is also controlled by the (FEM) . The right front and the rear door locks are controlled by the (REM) . The power windows are not controlled by these modules ,so it is not a faulty body computer . An where did you check codes ? Takes a factory or professional type scan tool to read these codes . No code reader , they just check PCM - engine codes . The power mirrors are not controlled by these modules either . Nor is the radio .
Looking at a wiring diagram i see the power mirror's and the power window share a common ground point G-305 , so does the rear radio controller ! (if your vehicle has one )
Buying an replacing parts is no way to fix these problems ! Using a wiring diagram and a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter to test the electrical circuits of these systems is the way to find the problem . Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. year , make , model and engine size . Then under system click on body an Accessorys , subsystem click power windows . Check for B+ voltage to the master window switch , check for a good ground .( Loaded circuit test ) Do you know what that means ? Watch these videos !
