I never put one in a Avalon, but go to youtube I'm sure you will. Find a video on it.

Over heating

Yes it will run without thermostat.
Did you bleed the radiator off air pockets?
Park on a hill engine facing up take of the radiator cap (WHEN COLD) and run engine, as it heats up bubbles will come out of the cap area you will need to keep filling till the bubbles stop.
The thermostat is only to help it get to an operating temperature faster to stop engine damage by running cold, they can stick and get blocked.
If it stops over heating by taking out the thermostat I would recommend to replace the thermostat as this would be the problem.
They do have a gasket that you need to consider prior to removing it.
Let me know if this helps ;-)

I'm trying to perform a radiator drain (flush) on my 1999 Buick Century Limited. I need to know how.

drain raditor fluid then take off upper and lower hoses and put your house water hose in lower raditor hose and turn on water and let run for about 5 mins. to flush out raditor.
then run in top hose to flush back then lower hose again. that should clean it out.

Had a new raditor put in and the car still overheats, the left side and top hose gets very hot, but the center and drivers side of the raditor is not hot at all. The thermostat is new also.

sounds like the water pump may be at fault here. with the vehicle cold, remove the radiator cap. start the vehicle and let it come up to operating temperature. check to see if there is coolant flowing through the radiator, it will be obvious. if there is no obvious flow, have the water pump replaced

Bmw 316i automatic 1996. have had head skimmed white smoke coming from exhust the top pipe from raditor is hot but hard the bottom pipe is cold. the oil in head is a caramel cream colour. have put a new...

You have a bad head gasket. You are leaking coolant into the engine block through the cylinders. This is why you have white smoke, and the extra coolant that doesnt get burned off is going into your oil.

Jeep tj carpet

I don't think there is a diagram for this... Really... You can't put together a five or six piece puzzle??? Use the seat bolt holes& stuff as guides. The front piece can only fit there, and then you only have four or five pieces left!!!
