I know in the newer versions of the Bravada, Trailblazers, Envoys, the ignition switch itself is always the culprit. Not the switch the key goes in, but it's located under the steering wheel column. I know how to replace the newer ones but not yours. That's the first place I'd look.

If the ignition wont lock in place, just redo it but this time you need to realize that you install the key cylinder with the key in the ON postion, straight into the lock cylinder housing, aligning the retaining tabs,on the key cylinder with the hole in the lock cylinder housing. Then turn the key to the off position,

Ignition cylinder locked and lost keys how do i replace ignition lock without key

I think a dealer can help you get another key made. If not, you have to drill and break out the lock cylinder until it can be removed. It is a messy job and some of them have a piece of titanium in them to prevent drilling, that is where the breaking part may come into play.

sounds like either the key or the lock cylinder is worn out

My car sometimes won't let go of my key when I shut it off. Dealer says it has to do with the theft deterrent module, but all the stuff I've read about it on the internet suggests that the theft...

This is probably the ignition lock cylinder worn out or getting old. The TDM is most likely not locking the key in, but new cars are pretty tied into themselves. For now, just try leaving the key in. Use another one for the doors. Some cars have a small hole under the steering wheel/column that you can stick a pen or something in to release your key. Maybe just be ready for something else breaks, then you'll know what is wrong.

If i change my ignition after a break in do i need a new key for the doors and ignition too

If the door lock is undamaged then it's fine to use the old key in the door and the new key with the ignition - you then have 2 separate keys for ignition and door -
I dont quite understand the question... could you word it fidderently,
You said you "changed my ignition" - which parts of the ignition?
