DTC P1516 Throttle Actuator Control(TAC) Module Throttle Actuator Position Performance

It only can be repaired at dealer, BUT you can try this first, by disconnecting the connectors at throttle body area and clean the connector with connector cleaner spray, and reconnect it. If it still doesn't solve the issue at all, take it to the dealer.

I was driving my Malibu the other day and the dash said "engine power reduced" and then a few seconds later "engine disabled". so i had to pull over. I was able to start it up after...

Hello! There are multiple Technical Service Bulletins (TSB'S) issued by General Motors which address this issue...When you get the message "Engine Disabled" the Check Engine Light will come on...This means the computer has a trouble code stored...An example of a code would be; P1516 or P2135...etc...If you can get to an auto parts store they will read the code/codes for free...Once you have that information I can offer a solution...A defective sensor which the code will point to is usually the reason the engine is disabled...Send a comment with code information...Guru...Saailer

Have 2003 chevy tahoe with codes p220 and p120 also p1516 already replaced the throttle body accuator and still come up with the code p1516

There is a Tecnical Service Bulletin (TSB) that specifically addresses codes P0120, P0220, and P1516.

It says that the TAC Module can set these codes erroneously under certain conditions. It is very likely that if your vehicle is diagnosed according to the provisions of this bulletin, the problem can be corrected without having to purchase or replace any parts.

It is Technical Service Bulletin number 03-06-04-032
Issued June 16, 2003

2008 malibu service esc traction control and eng

The torque converter clutch circuit may be at fault. The best way to determine the problem is to have a scanner/computer to read check engine codes.
