before reomoving the starter when i tried to turn over you could hear a thud or clunk. that is what is leading me to think the sstarter may be locked up. i was going to get it tested at auto zone but cant seem to get it to wiggle out so i can disconnect the wires

Try and lightly tap your starter with a hamer if the truck starts when you do that then it's starter if you turn key on and try to turn over and it doesn't it could be your ac cluch or it could be silinoide
side of frame when you pop hood

Can a car with a broken starter motor be jump started?

If it's the starter motor itself that's knackered it won't start with anything, other than a bump start. Jumping won't knacker the battery though, and if the starter is seized it just won't turn over. Hook it up and give it a go, it won't do any harm. Worst case only give it five or six turns. If it turns over' at all' it's going to be fine.

Got the starter unbolted and tried to just bump the starter/ignition and the starter still doesnt anything

no ---This is a bad practice because if it managed to work the pinion gear would have started spinning and mashed the ring gear then kicked around and bent something --probably the armature shaft . starter motors draw up to 600amps on engagement and produce in excess of 10HP so you can see the potential for a disaster.. Pull the starter completely and have it bench tested

I have a 94 Eclipse that has been sitting for just over a year and charged the battery and still wont start just get a click it acts like it wants to start but dosen't whatch should I do?

Hi don, 1st id take a look at the battery termionals clean them ,then look at the cables to the starter and clean an tighten them (1 goes top the starter and 1 goes either to a ground on the frame or to a block like solenoid) after that check your fuses to starter, starter relay and main fuse or relays in the big black box under hood and also inside car as well, my guess would be bad ground wire, locked up starter, or relay. even tho you charged your battery a cell in it couldve collaped as well. Hope this helps!!

My 1992 Jeep Cherokee Laredo is acting like it DOES have an impact sensor. Even the connectors for bridges are causing the engine to stop. Power is still on (lights, heat, gauges). I have to struggle to...

Sounds like a loose connection, positive or ground. When problem is ongoing, jump starter relay, load side, the load side is that line with arrowhead, unplug relay, use jumper wire between those two terminals on left side of diagram. The starter motor should crank. If you try that make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set. If it cranks with jumper but won't otherwise, have to check control side of relay, right side in the picture. That top wire is voltage from ignition switch, bottom wire is ground.

2000 ford truck starting problems

most likley the positive wire has corroded off the starter. look at the small red wire more closely, if theres alot of corosion, replace the wire (and starter if needed) if you dont see much corrosion give the wire a good tug just to see if it really is hooked up well. you should disconnect the batt. before doing any of this.hope this helps and good luck

95 Pathfinder would not crank, jump no help, then started fine?!?

If the key is in the ignition and the door is open or ajar, the chime alert will sound, although the lights might be off. Ensure door jam switch is working properly. Also have your ignition switch check out.

Check your positive wire from battery to starter? and Check Ground wire also.

If you have an alarm that cuts off the starter, it might be acting up by failing to reset, so that you can start the truck.
